EpitomyofShyness 2005-06-13 . chapter 1LOL! Oh my god! That was soo funny! This so on my favorites! |
Lossenrhos 2004-03-31 . chapter 1He he. Excellent tale. Poor old Hamfast. I think Merry and Pippin (Gamgee) deserved what they got, though. I loved the interaction between Faramir and his father, and Pippin wondering if it was his foolishness that lead to Gandalfs “death |
Cantora 2003-09-25 . chapter 1This is so cute! Well, not CUTE exactly, but you know what I mean. So sweet. It's so funny to see Merry and Pippin (Brandybuck and Took, that is) having to be the "responsible" ones. *sigh* I suppose we all have to grow up sometimes (or at least pretend to). |
TrinityC 2003-06-01 . chapter 1The barrel story! Wonderful! I've been wondering about this one ever since 'A Word of Caution Regarding Hobbits'! Poor Hamfast! (and poor long-suffering Legolas!) I hope the others are very ashamed of themselves. . .and I don't blame Merry and Pippin the elder for deciding never to invite Merry and Pippin the younger on any adventures ever again! Trying to ride Elladan's horse. . .I bet *that* was entertaining! (hurray, incidentally, for the appearance of the Twins, for I am inordinately fond of them. . .) |
Kit5 2003-05-30 . chapter 1I loved the tender father-son moment between Pippin and Faramir, and Pippin's recall of a regrettable incident from his own youth that I often thought must have haunted him. Thank you for another wonderful story- I always go to your site when I need a pick-me-up. |
Bookworm2000 2003-05-29 . chapter 1 Aw, poor Hamfast! Hee hee hee- this was a good story plot. Got a bit confusing with Pippin and Merry and Merry and Pippin, though... but I got who was who in the end. |
Elendiari 2003-05-26 . chapter 1 This is anexcellent story, baylor, I tuly enjoyed it. The only thing thast seemed a bitstrange to me was Pipin spanking aramir wth his bet. That just seems a bit out of Pippin's nature. Maybe it's justhrd for me to tink of him as a reponsible adult. ;) Keep up the good work!

Pansy Chubb 2003-05-26 . chapter 1This is a wonderful story. I can picture everything as it plays out. Very funny how Merry and Pippin Gamgee are such a handful. Pippin handled his little talk with Faramir nicely and I would have believed he had wisened as he grew older except we know he let Faramir climb a very tall tree there shortly after this incident. As I recall, Legolas phrased it 'an appalling lack of parenting skills.' This story is funny and sweet (as usual). Thanks. |
Llinos 2003-05-26 . chapter 1 Well naughty Merry and Pippin (Gamgee that is) they certainly lack their sire's fidelity! I dread to think what Sam will have to say about this episode.
Pippin (Took that is) has certainly become the wisest of hobbits without losing any of his wit and charm.
For wit:-
“Really? Perhaps you should check the king’s dining hall, where they just tried to serve him with the main course!”
and for wisdom:-
“Did not mean any harm does not mean did not do any harm,”
Excellent story - loved it to bits! |
Cunien 2003-05-26 . chapter 1Another wonderful story of course! It was very sweet and very nicely written. It's strange to think of the older Merry and Pippin as responible fathers! |
Salsify 2003-05-26 . chapter 1Oh, that was fun! I thought about reading it to my sons, then realized it would probably give them Ideas. |
shirebound 2003-05-26 . chapter 1What a delight! The very first paragraph hooked me instantly (as if your name on a story wouldn't). Bilbo's stories continue to reverberate throughout the hobbits' imaginations (especially the young ones!), prodding them into new adventures and scrapes.
Poor Legolas will have to add this incident to his mental "grievances" list from "A Word of Caution Regarding Hobbits". I hope the list becomes very, very long, and you document every last one of them! |
