Jiwa 2009-07-28 . chapter 1This is actually quite funny. xD |
DawnFire and Silver Huntress 2009-06-18 . chapter 1Hey,
I loved it. Can you please post a second chapter or something with the translations of whatever language that was?
Valar, I'm getting confused. I don't know which language who uses! I know now that Grey Elves use Sindarin, but are they the ones in Rivendell?
But mostly...to quote Lindir, "“I’m sorry, but what in the name of Elbereth Gilthoniel up on Taniquentil are you saying?”" or rather, What in the name of Elbereth Gilthoniel up on Taniquentil was that girl *saying*? All I managed to figure out was that Yallume means Good...or was it At last? Yeah, it was 'at last', 'quel' meant good...funny how it means 'what' in french... :D

Noruinivnes 2009-04-13 . chapter 1Yallume! Yallume! A translation of the Sue (as far as I can surmise).
You are beautiful, my friend horse. Rest well now.
At last! At last! Rivendell!
I am Melkánoiel, daughter of Elrond Half-Elven and Celebrían of Lothlórien, and I am [from*] Neverwinter Woods. Good afternoon, and hail, my friends. I am here to speak with your master.
Do you speak Elvish?
Impetuous [one]. Bring me to Elrond**!
Ah! You smelly ones know Arwen, my sister? Good, good! Where is she? And where is my father, the Lord Elrond Half-Elven? Where is my mother, * Celebrían of Lothlórien?
_! Bring me to them*! Now! I command you! Now! Now!
By the sea and stars! Abominable ones! Cowardly dogs! You disgust me! You’re ugly and your mother dresses you funny! I hate you, blood-suckers, I HATE YOU! YOU DECIEVED ME! DEATH, DEATH TO YOU! Farewell, foul ones, and DEATH to you!*
*I was unable to decipher what the Sue was saying, so I just guessed.
**Unsure if the first word is bring or not.
* I think the “arwen” there is a typo.
* I have no idea what “amadea” means, except that it’s an insult, and I’m guessing that “cor” means something similar to “bring/take.”
* I have no idea why “estel” is in there.
A note to the author: I very much enjoyed your story. The only thing that bothers me is that Lindir and Erestor are speaking Sindarian, but Lindir can't figure out the Sindarian crossword? Unless it's in Quenya, but it doesn't really look like Quenya to me... anyways, a most excellent sotry. :D

Galenfea 2008-05-19 . chapter 1Very funny! I nearly used Grelvish as Sindarin once... fortunately someone corrected me before it could get off my hard drive, but I may dig it up again for my own parody. You've inspired me to make a Silmarillion crossword now, but the answers will probably have to be in English.
Thanks!

Nelarun 2007-10-30 . chapter 1hehehehehehehehehehehehehe... very nice... poor lass... she couldn't even learn the right language to dazzle the people in. Well done!

Rae Simmons 2007-10-07 . chapter 1I'm with Erestor, I can't understand a word that girl said. It was funny though, and sadly that little scene with the crossword happens much too often for my liking and for some reason I'm always the "Erestor". -.-; |
Enelya 2007-07-27 . chapter 1Oh, I loved this! The interaction between Erestor and Lindir was perfect, and I love the idea of elves having crossword puzzles - maybe they invented Sudoku when they were *really* bored...
Hah! At the sue, and the Grelvish is simply dire. I especially loved the bit about Lindir seeming to hear nightingales, despite it being the middle of the afternoon. :D

Calenlass Greenleaf1 2007-03-26 . chapter 1LOL! Oh my goodness, that was...so funny- ROFL.
Ok, now people are staring at me.
A plague on all Grelvish. The creators should die.
Melin narn gîn, mellon nîn. :-)

Kalisona 2007-03-25 . chapter 1Oh, that was so amusing!! I know exactly what you mean!! Stupid fake elvish...Anyway, that was fantastic!! Out of curiosity, what was the 'Sue saying? I didn't bother to look it up. ;)

Beatrisu 2004-06-30 . chapter 1I loved your story. Simply loved it. (And I hate Grelvish anyway..) More more more! |
Legato with vengeance 2004-06-20 . chapter 1I LOVE IT!
I once told some one who had been using GCE in a review, "I want to chew up grey-elvish and spit it out where no good Atani can find it!" and that is exactly what you've done!
LOVE IT! |
Maria 2004-06-13 . chapter 1 WOOHOO! GRELVISH IS AN ABOMINATION! AND ALL THAT OTHER STUFF! Congratulations. You are currently one of the few (five or so) authors who realize important things about Middle-earth (such as that Grelvish is NOT SINDARIN OR QUENYA OR ANY TYPE OF ELVISH!) Again, congratulations. One itty-bitty question: could you have a translation? If possible. Your humble servant begs this of you. Update soon! |
Anolinde 2004-01-18 . chapter 1 Great job! I'm getting fed up with Grey Company elvish too. Couldn't make out most of what she was saying though. Oh well. Most likely don't want to know.
Keep up the good work! |
TeleriMaiden 2003-09-12 . chapter 1you didn't translate what she was ranting and raving about... |
Achika-chan 2003-07-30 . chapter 1 I recognised a few words that that Horrid Mary Sue was Saying. "Estel" is Hope and "Namaarie" is a brutalized spelling of "Namarie" which is "Farewell" |
