I just got to read this, and I think this was brilliant. It has a very HikaGo feel despite being kind of AU. The characters were alive and believable, and the plot was so intense :D

I know it hasn't been updated for quite a while, but I hope this would be continued...

really good story!

I got a little confused between Shindou and Shinoda but once I started spending less time being hung up on the slight similiarities of the names, I was able to read into the story and really enjoy it. There's just the right amount of excitement to go along with the game and Shinoda's inner comments really help the reader to get an inside look at Shindou's skills and talent. Thanks for sharing.

OMG wow! you've GOT to update this, it's so intense! No wonder Hikaru was off his game, being reminded of Sai... feel so sorry for him!

Also, your Hikaru say he play on gonet. Wouldn't his logging be popular as well? Or is he only talking about Sai's games?

I got chaught by this story. The amazing fact is, that there is not a single point of view from Hikaru. Just like everyone in the story, the reader has to wonder "What happened? What lead to this?" Well, the reader has atwantage, knowing the original plot and therefore able to see the shadowes of it, but that still isn't enough to get it all.
The pain Hikaru is feeling is something that affected me as reader as well. It could be, because I "somewhat" know the reason, but your writing stlye is just as helpfull in that matter. However, there is something that confused me:
Ashiwara against Hikaru in the young Lion Tournament. He was older then 20 back then, so he couldn't be in it. So far, that's the only flaw I found in this otherwise interestin story. I'd like to read more for sure ^^

First, I wanted to thank you for your fanfic. I had decided to avoid Hikago fanfic after I finished the series, believing that the things I liked best about the series couldn't possibly be captured by the fandom. I came upon your story by chance, following a recommendation, and I have to say it's blown me out of the water. When reading it, I found all of the intensity that I felt when I flew through the manga, and now I find myself wistfully wondering if other fics like it might exist.

I was very impressed with how you managed to write the entire fic about Hikaru without ever once using his point of view. I think it was a wise decision on your part, since it preserves the mystery of Hikaru's motives and maintains the suspense. Of course readers will know something about it, having read the manga, but the question of how Hikaru's relationship with Sai developed under somewhat different circumstances remains.

Another thing you did very well was give complete and compelling pictures of the mindset of the other characters in the series. This was one of the great strengths of the Hikaru no Go manga, and you've captured it perfectly here. Even though the fic is centered on Hikaru, still the distinctive voice and personality of each character came out perfectly. And though this meant that oftentimes the "camera" of the story was not focused on Hikaru, I was never once bored or distracted by it. Rather it helped to give a complete view of the world of Go and the people who inhabit it, making the entire story as compelling as the source material-- moreso than it would have been had you told the tale from Hikaru's perspective.

My first impression of your story has been overwhelmingly positive, and I enjoyed reading it very much. While I generally hesitate to urge authors onwards, since stories have a way of coming when they come and defying our plans and expectations, still I will be eagerly awaiting future chapters.
