Aliquis 2007-08-20 . chapter 1Oh. SAD. D: Its so true. I enjoyed that movie, even if it was more than a little irky. I get the impression not many have seen it, either. Nicely done. |
JustJennifer 2006-11-10 . chapter 1Wow. This story is AMAZING. I do not have words to adequately describe it. It's exactly how I pictured the ending of "Close My Eyes." Exactly. Great Job. |
 Aloe 2006-02-14 . chapter 1 Sad & very, very well written-- I'm impressed. |
Satia Entreri 2005-12-27 . chapter 1I liked the film very much because of this totally extreme characters - and you catched them so marvellous!! I enjoyed this thing very, very much - even if I hope, that it is NOT just "the end" - even if it is a very good end for this oneshot.
Do you intend to continue this? I would love it!
Greetings from Germany

dillll 2005-06-14 . chapter 1wow, this blew my mind. Nat is such a biotch. love the fic' so rock on! |
zhaneraal 2005-05-22 . chapter 1God, you just want to throttle Natalie, don't you? Even at the end, nothing she does is truly for anyone else but herself.
Both Natalie and Sinclair were brilliantly written. Well done. |
Bellegeste 2005-05-18 . chapter 1Came across this when I logged on to review FFI, and couldn't resist reading it. It's about time Natalie stopped being such a self-absorbed, manipulative cow and thought about Sinclair for a change. I love the way you have handled the writing and descriptions here, though I'm not personally convinced that Sinclair would actually have left like that. (But if he had, I'm sure it could have been exactly as you describe). In his interview didn't AR say that one of the things that appealed to him most about the character of Sinclair was that he handled the situation like a 'grown up' ? I don't think that would encompass storming off and crashing the car... For a while there I hoped that he was shot of that silly user Natalie for ever and could find someone who really appreciated him - you've been too kind, allowing her back in, even if the future isn't especially rosy.
Oh well, whatever. Beautiful story. |
Nicole Boulet 2005-03-14 . chapter 1How indelibly sad. But, so was the movie. Alan's character was beyond wonderful. |
tippusmaximus 2004-09-07 . chapter 1Like another reviewer here, I read this story before I had seen the film. After I saw the film, I remembered your story and searched frantically to find it again. This is now one of my favorite stories on FFN. Everything about it--the writing, the tone, the characterization--is perfect. As a wonderful extension of the movie, your story has actually enriched the film for me, and I can't really think of a better compliment than that. Kudos and thanks! |
Sheriff of Nottingham 2004-08-08 . chapter 1this is so good. you've got a knack for this kind of writind'

biscuit 2004-07-04 . chapter 1 I love Close My Eyes, and you've come up with the perfect finale. It made me ache inside. |
 Perselus 2004-03-12 . chapter 1Wow! sad...
Loved your writing!
I love Alan Rickman and I always wondered what would happen after the end of "close my eyes" .
I really love that movie and Alan looks breathtaking in it. |
kLyn 2004-03-08 . chapter 1I came across this story when I was reading your Snape fanfiction, but I didn't read it. Now that I've finally seen the movie, I looked for it so I could read it.
What a well-written, heartbreaking story. I could really feel the pain that both Sinclair and Natalie were going through--and you made me have more sympathy for Natalie than I did watching the movie.
I like how you made Sinclair's compulsive eating a sign of how little assurance he had in their relationship, and how you described him as being the the heart of the group. Although Natalie had never felt attracted to him, you made it clear that there was something more to him than just his wealth. That even in his own pain, he looked out for her, putting his jacket around her shoulders because he thought she was cold, offering to acknowledge Richard's child as his own when he thought she was pregnant. You know, on the second reading, I have to agree with the reviewer who said that Sinclair deserves more. He does indeed. And that last line: "But there was no joy in his voice or his eyes, only a vast wariness, and the expectation of hurt." Heartbreaking.
This was well worth the effort to find again--an excellent piece of writing. |
Amber64Dragon 2004-01-10 . chapter 1Excellent story very well written, even if Nat never had deserved Sinclair and he definitely deserved better. Thank you for sharing your take on how it could have ended. |
