Derek Zolfer 2005-09-21 . chapter 1I was looking for fics to add to my C2 when I stumbled across this.
Writing is always a subtle thing, and its nuances are difficult to detect. That being said, let me be perfectly honest and direct when I say that I believe large segments of this story have quite simply been stolen from other fanfics wholesale. I know this because they're already in the aforementioned C2.
In particular, DK's fanfic "Aftershock," which contains a similar breakup scene between Squall and Rinoa and numerous images which you have replicated, (perhaps with slight twisting) in this story. One or two I would consider a coincidence, but five or six?
Add these things to the fact that your story "Requiem" liberally swipes the narration style and tactics of carme's "Gift of the Fairies", and I'm left wondering if any of this is your own, or if you simply spend your time making Frankensteins out of the work of other authors.
Shame on you. |
fyre byrd 2005-06-03 . chapter 1This is a very interesting story. I never thought of Squall as being the vulnerable one, the one who would break in two. But clearly, as you've so excellently shown in your story, after all the coldness and prickliness he gave up for Rinoa, he would have fallen apart if she left him.
Also the possibility is there for her to leave him and she shouldn't be blamed for that any more than Squall should be blamed for being the way he is. Rinoa needed Squall to be someone that he was not.
In other words, I find your depictions of the characters and their psychological motivations thoroughly convincing and intriguing. I'm glad you didn't just make Rinoa into the bad guy. |
ice-princess-squall 2004-06-12 . chapter 1I cried for Squall while reading this.
He reacted to Rinoa's leaving just like he did when Sis left... I think I'm going off to cry more.
It was beautiful and lovely. ^^ |
 MsADRiENNE 2003-08-19 . chapter 1How sad!! |
Baconfat 2003-08-07 . chapter 1Absolutely... I want to say lovely, but this hurt too damn much for that to be the right word. Another high-quality piece, lanesa. I love the way your writing picks these things up and examines them from different angles, always bringing to light emotions I'd never expect and doing it in such a way that I can't help but be affected by it. I love the way we never find out who "the other man" was -- because it doesn't matter, here, this is about the loss. Just beautiful the way you handle everything, the way Squall becomes so completely wrapped up in that one emotional tie that everything else seems to revolve around it. I love the way you tied in the Griever ring. Ahh, man. Just wonderful. And the ending? A perfect mix of hope and loneliness. It takes a hell of a lot of talent to pull off such an array of emotions so well. I can't wait to read your next piece. |
Roentgen Ray 2003-07-25 . chapter 1Wonderfully done. I really love the way you worte this, every part of it. Please write more like this soon! |
Yati 2003-07-24 . chapter 1That was beautifully written. The best piece I've read in a very long time, and your writing style really drew me in. When I finished the last line, it left me staring at the screen for a while. Loved the last part, and the way everything ties in with the rain ... |

rendezvous 2003-07-13 . chapter 1I always enjoy your works, and I was wondering when your next one would come out!
