I think you mean "wandered."

I can't think of anything to contradict the premise of this story, that Celegorm's fea can stick around and go to Mandos later. But personally I don't like it. However, I enjoyed this story, mostly because it shows Celegorm's love for his brothers so beautifully. There aren't enough stories that do. And I love that last scene, as Celegorm prepares for the Halls of Mandos.

abuseA very kind reading of Celegorm mostly because one is able to sympathize with him. That and I'm a sucker from brotherly love, and he's so good to Amrod and Amras. I think I've mentioned before but I love the detail that he called Feanor "milord prince" for the longest time. I never thought of him as being scorned for his yellow hair, but maybe only in a Feanorian household would such a thing happen. The dangling string and subsequent obsession with it was great beyond words.

Wonderful description of Maglor's way of (not)grieving. I had the hardest time seeing Maedhros and Maglor as not mourning for Amrod and Amras, but it's just Celegorm's slanted opinion. After all, Maglor tries to comfort Celegorm later, so he's not so alone as he makes himself out to be.

The description of Celegorm running after the Silmaril and being burned by it despite never touching it was amazing. And there's something about the way Celegorm has to strip before going to Mandos that makes for the most wonderful metaphor (but it's hard not to let my mind stray thanks to Ecthelion and Galdor).

abuse*loves* Ah, Celegorm. What an overlooked, hardly comprehensible, very reprehensible, strange, cruel, passionate, detached, subtle, loving, hateful, poignant, unique character. *sigh* Geez.

You must be naked to enter my Halls! How true this is (non-withstanding all the implications it originally wore when first issued as a sentence. -_-') This is what the sons of Feanor have all feared, I guess, the nakedness of the fea. This is how Mandos heals.

Their small curious faces that reminded me of all that could be beauty and peace. How true, also. Children yet to be molded into something, and who will be molded; it is like Celegorm pulling them on one side, the world on the other, as a result, the poor twins will end up belonging to neither, always lost between the two.

And Feanor, eager to repair the wrongs he did to his sons. Such a short, concise and precise portrayal.

And Celegorm and Ambarussa with Vanyarin accents... *melts*

The first paragraph about Sirion, "Ashes and dust...[...]" is so beautifully written it makes my heart ache.

All the Feanorians having refused Mandos to follow their living brothers... so true, so true. Or can they not go to Mandos unless the Oath is fulfilled?

Feanor's children being Feanor's wishes...

I loved also Maedhros and Maglor's indecision, wondering what others would have done, others who are dead.

And the ending... *passes out*

It is the story of the House of fire, what burns will consume, and die.

*dies*

But let me say that the MOST BEAUTIFUL, meaningful, profound, so heartwrenching it damn hurts is that little unimportant throaway line about Caranthir tying knots on that string. *weeps*

So many phrases to remember... dizziness.

Btw my name is Le Chat Noir, not Chat de Noir. :)
