| Smichiko 2007-10-24 ch 1, | abuseExcellent fic. Very moving. :) |
| KIM32 2006-12-18 ch 1, | abuseSalazar has some Snape like moments. This was a nice story. Kind of hard to get really wrapped up in it because you know something bad is going to happen. I really liked the last line and it is great to see Hufflepuffs having some limelight. |
| Lines 2006-11-20 ch 1, | abuseThis is a gorgeous piece of work with an interesting and uncommon pairing, and I really, truly adore it. |
| Unicorn'sWhisper 2006-09-17 ch 1, | abuseThat was AMAZING!! I love Helga/Salazar paring. And the way you explained their whole relationship is just so sad but 'WOW' :) |
| Santiva Potter 2006-05-24 ch 1, | abuseTHat was beautiful. Great Job! |
| A Brighter Dawn 2005-10-07 ch 1, | abuseThat was a lovely story, though you made me cry. You have also made me adore Helga. Now I just need to find more stories about her. Fantastic job. I'm adding this to me favorites list, Dawn |
| Anna B. the Greek 2005-07-15 ch 1, | abuseA nice story :) As the others said, it justifies perfectly Salazar's hatred for the Muggleborns. See ya, AnnaBtG. |
| Robe Sutaru aka Magical Ed 2005-03-26 ch 1, | abuseWow.Just,wow.Amazing details,and I love the coupling. ^__^ Keep writing,you're too good to stop! |
| The Orange Coconut 2004-10-10 ch 1, | abuseBeautiful fanfic! It's going on my favorites. I tend to (though not all the time) take an interest in less concentrated characters. Helga Hufflepuff is definitely one of them. I've seen only a couple fanfics that have portrayed her in a believable way and I'm happy to announce that your fanfic is one of them. I haven't thought too much to which House I'd be. I'm way too torn on the subject, though I really do lean towards Hufflepuff. I'm pretty sure if anyone leans towards the Hufflepuff house, they probably would be sorted in it. But anyway, once again. Loved the story. I also adore the Salazar/Helga couple, so that's definitely a major bonus. |
| pottyboutweasley 2004-04-14 ch 1, | abuseWow! That was really good, a lot of detail, pulling the reader into the story. At the start I was surprised that there was a nice Salazar but you twisted it very well to turn him into the Salazar we know. Very clever. I do feel sorry for Stefan, it must be hard to have that sort of expectation. I guess that's what it might be like for Draco. Once again, very well thought through and written, and very enjoyable all the way through (excpet of corse when Saria dies). Luv Cat |
| Dicere 2004-03-07 ch 1, | abuseFeel free to rant more often, if this is the result it brings! |
| Myesyats 2004-01-18 ch 1, | abuseWow, this is great. I'm not the only hufflepuff who'll admit it too. One of my friends actually thinks that she's a slyhterin, which is silly, she's a hufflwpuff like me. I'm also not the only Helga/Salazar shipper too! Yay! |
| Lanc 2003-11-27 ch 1, | abuseI'd say that in the books there is undoubtedly a bias towards Gryffindor (although perhaps less so in the last two books. They have certainly contained more about Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, though still not nearly as much as I would like). The bias would at least partially be explained by the fact that we see everything from Harry's point of view, and Harry would naturally enough be biased in favour of his own house. I do think you're being a bit harsh on Luna though - she did wear an eagle hat when Ravenclaw played Gryffindor, so presumably she was supporting her own house. She's probably got a badger hat too, for when Hufflepuff play Slytherin. Actually, if you think about it, in the Order of the Phoenix Hufflepuff came second at Quidditch (as they beat both Gryffindor and Slytherin, though must have lost to Ravenclaw or they would have won three all matches and so taken the cup), so if Ravenclaw had beaten Gryffindor the two "major" houses would have finished last. I also have a suspicion that Ravenclaw won the House Cup (possibly my own bias is talking here - I think I would probably have been a Ravenclaw), although Malfoy and the Inquisitorial Squad might have made it so nobody other than Slytherin could have won. Gryffindor certainly didn't win - 240 points was nowhere near enough in the past and I doubt they could have picked up enough points to make up the difference between McGonagall's return and the end of term. Now that's over with, let's get on to the story. Personally, I've always tended to see Hufflepuff and Gryffindor as natural allies. That's probably mostly due to the Hat and the situation in Harry's time than the founders themselves. I've certainly never been able to see Ravenclaw as somebody who could be involved with Slytherin. I can't imagine the two of them together without one of them tearing the other's head off. The story also makes sense of Slytherins hatred for Muggleborns. While he probably disliked them from the start, something must have happened to make him feel even worse about them. If he'd always had such a hatred, I doubt he could have stayed at Hogwarts as long as he did. A mad muggleborn killing somebody he cared about would certainly explain the intensification of his dislike. I enjoyed this story. It is nice to be able to read about the founders. I've thought about them quite a bit. They have always fascinated me (just like the rest of the history of the magical world. I'd certainly like to know more about the days before Voldemort. Too bad Professor Binns is such a boring teacher that nobody can pay attention to him). Incidentally, the animals chosen to represent each founder/house seem perfect to me except for that of Ravenclaw - the courageous lion, the cunning snake and the patient, faithful badger; Ravenclaw's eagle seems odd as it is not a bird that brings to mind intelligence. It's especially nice to read a convincing and believable description of the pre-Harry magical world, and if you write any more about the history of magic I will certainly read it. |
| Jess the Great 2003-10-29 ch 1, | abuseI'm such a dork. My jaw dropped at the last sentence. lol Lovely story, go Hufflepuffs! Huzzah! A little angsty for my liking, but one does need their daily dose. Excellent story. |
| AgiVega 2003-10-23 ch 1, | abuseOh... this is such a sad story! I think this "a muggleborn killing Salazar's daughter" is a good theory for explaining why he had hated muggleborns so much. Again, I'm sad :( Poor Helga. |
