Hermione would've been sixteen as well, her seventeenth birthday on September 19, I think.

The very idea that the Headmaster of a school would "assign" a student to be an Assistant Professor, responsible for all of the DADA students - who have PAID for competent instruction is mind-boggling. That Harry would just bow down and accept this unpaid responsibility is even more stunning.

Hilarious since that is actually what happens.

So I am not too far in yet and I like it but like a few other stories I have read lately there is one problem...Harry is not Older than Hermione. She was born in 1979 and he in 1980. Oh well. After 9 years of the story being posted it doesn't make a difference.

Now to continue reading.

I friggen love this story. I've read it a couple times before and didn't review.. But I was going through bookmarks and started reading again earlier tonight... its 3:45 and I just finished the last chapter. I didnt realize it was so late. I read the whole thing in one sitting. It was addictive. I needed to finish before putting it away for the night and I already knew the ending. Sometimes it felt a bit rushed, but really its not such a bad thing. It kept the plot from dragging, which is really refreshing honestly. Keep up the great work. Don't let the haters get you down. I'm sure for every person who said something negative about this story there was probably 10 who loved it but didn't bother to comment. Congrats on a job well done and a story well written!

There are other stories with the same idea, however; I have enjoyed the first chapter and am going to read the rest so hopefully it is somewhat different. Very nice beginning.

It's a nice story, well-written, has a lot of original ideas, and seems quite realistic. Harry and his friends train hard, but don't become Dumbledore-level duelers in a year. Harry tries to take control of his life, but there's little Dumbledore-bashing, which gets really tiring after a while in the fanfic world. Excellent.

One of the downsides, in my opinion, is the anticlimactic final battle versus Voldemort. I understand that Harry wasn't experienced enough to face him directly, but the way the battle was described, we didn't even "see" Voldemort properly, and his and Dumbledore's fight certainly didn't feel very impressive. For the final battle, it would have been nice if it was more detailed.
