Everyone was in character (something I myself have failed spectacularly to accomplish) and there was just the right amount of humor tempered by drama. And I'm glad that it didn't come too close to the original, 'cause I read "The Monkey's Paw" when I was ten and it scared the living hell out of me. I'm still a bit averse to it.
