care 2003-08-15 . chapter 1this is... incredible. now, there are some parts that were slightly confusing - ie the "taking center stage whenever humiliation needs to be doled out, whenever contempt and censure needs to flow like wine," but i can see that you've just added that to ensure the idea of draco. and because yes, Neville does seem to humiliate himself seemingly strategically. a very interesting take on Neville you have there. it's a wonderful twist, it really is. esp since everyone dismisses Neville so easily. after OOtP came out, i've expected waves of Neville-centric fics, but was incredibly surprised to see that so few people picked up the ficcing plot that rowling practically handed to us on a silver platter. and the few that i have seen were all written sub-standard, but this one is fascinating. it explains Neville's reason for being in Gryffindor so well, too - i always thought that all of Neville's acts of courage were also suspiciously Slytherin; ie in Philosopher's Stone Neville stopping the Trio so that the house wouldn't lose points. btw - i happen to prefer silver. ^_~ |
