Reviews for During a journey in the dark

I just wanted to say that I love your stories. I am so glad that you are making a sequel! Thank you for your wonderful stories. You are a talented writer! Just remember, not to forget about Land of Light and Shadows and Fear No Darkness.

I thought you built up the tension in this chapter excellently. I had a real sense of desperation from both Aragorn and Gandalf. Neither of them wanted this path, but events forced it on them, and then again the wargs have taken the choice away.

Terrific start,

Cathy.

One of the things I love about your stories is how you take a canonical situation out of the books and apply your imagination to it... just like this! It is still eminently approachable for those who have only recently come to love Tolkien through the movies-but to those of us raised on the books, this is still a wonderful piece of work! The characters are so true to themselves and to one another; the situation is one that could easily have come up, and you do justice to it all. I look forward to the rest of the story!

Long have I awaited this! hahahaha

Wonderfully, masterfully done- as expected.

In the back of my mind there has always loomed the question of: Just what the hell happened to Aragorn on his first visit to Moria anyway? Why did he have a first visit to Moria(other than perhaps the fact that he was...ranging)? And I was wondering if you had any clue or if it was something that Tolkien left to the reader's imagination.

In any case - I love the shadow that hangs over this story. I love a dark tale.

Update anything soon! Please! :)

It had been such a long time before the sequel to "While the ring went south..." finally came out. I can't express my excitement. I guess I will be checking your writer's profile everyday for updates from now on, as if I hadn't done so already. Anyway, although I have high expectation for this sequel, your work still managed to go beyond it. The dark style, the tension, all were excellently done. Great job!

Yeah! I love When the Ring Went South, and this is just as good. You have a wonderful way of telling stories and it's a lot of fun to read these story fillers. Tolkien didn't tell us too much sometimes, and it really adds to my enjoyment of the books. Please write the nexy chapter soon!

*grins* I had so hoped to see a continuation of "When the Ring Went South." You have a way of bringing the story alive in the places where Tolklien left dark - or ever enlightening those places that seemed sparse.

Overall, I'm thrilled to see you taking on this project and will eagerly await the next installation. Thank you for this!

Wow! What a terrific chapter! I read "While the Ring Went South" and I loved it, and now I love the start that you have made on this new story! Congratulations on a wonderful work of fiction.

Your characterization of Gimli and Legolas was very well written, and if that is the kind of rich detail that you can get by being true to the books over the movie, its too bad that not all writers follow that path. I also loved the rare bits of humor in the beginning and how you so seamlessly blended the parts borrowed from the book with your own writing.

I will definetely be keeping an eye on this story, it is going on my favorites list. Congratulations again, and good luck on another wonderful story.

I like the picture of Gimli as adventuresome. And his thoughts about Oin and Moria are convicingly rendered. I hadn't thought before about Oin being his uncle.

I was caught by the bits about Boromir. He comes across as a competent warrior who does not believe in shilly-shallying around in actions or words.

"Legolas sighed, not having the heart for such games and jests" - and that is a sign of exactly how bad things are.

I love you! You are so awsome! I am so close to counting you umong the greatest of the valar. Heck your as good as Iluvatar himself. You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this. And don't worry if its a darker than 'While the Ring went South' most people like dark fics I know I do. I am SO happy. Did I mention that I love you?
