Your Owen is adorably sweet (and a real, Jesslaw man, of course) and lasted a whole conversation with out saying the "J" word :) Normally I hate Kel/Owen, but this was enough to make me into a (temporary) rabid shipper. How you wrote the interaction was just perfect, and I love the akwardness. Especially on Kel's part - she could use more akward situations in her life. Jesslaw Men. Hee. That is too good for words. And finally, the bandit hunting! grins Fen, who is trying her hardest not to squee like a fangirl...

(I think she'll be along soon if she hasn't already - she is also in love with Owen and has written some pretty terrific Owen stories, herself). Anyways.. from reading your profile, you sound like an awesome person to hang out with and talk books/manga. Almost verything I've read that you listed I liked a lot (Long live Ender's Game!!), and I've been meaning to get started on some of the others. (someday...) Can I recommend you read some Diana Wynne Jones? A British author, and my favourite by far. Oh yes.. I should probably say something about the fic, right? I really like the way you've portrayed Owen and Kel's relationship - he's basically her child all grown up (she -does- have kind of a mother-hen complex, doesn't she?). How he makes her laugh and sort of normalizes her is nicely done. My only criticism is that I really don't like the title. -Sally (wishing she new about Beyblade or Gundam so she could read your other stories..)

I like this "Owen" character. He sounds fun. I also REALLY like the last part. "Hang on, here's an idea! Kel, why don't you come with me?" It makes me squeel girlishly. A mixture of Takao and Max I guess, but then again, I've never read the books before, only this. Anyways, I will attempt a review, because some things cannot go left unsaid. First of all, this is absolutely gorgeous. As par usual, your writing style has completely drawn out this scene in my head, making it a moving, living scene full of colours and emotion. Simply stunning. You have this brilliant, brilliant knack for just writing simple snippits but making them timeless. Honestly, this is just another reason why I both love you and hate you at the same time. Once again, you have taken my breath away with your writing abilities. Now, all I need to do is find a copy of this series since Owen seems like a gem! Lovely piece Akai. You're such a stunner, it's almost sick. ^_^ Lets enjoy some talkage soon, ne? JuliTina 2003-09-13 ch 1,	abuseI've never really considered Kel/Owen before. When I read Tamora Pierce's novels, I don't really consider the romance side of things. I usually just like the idea of having kick ** girls whoopping boys' asses. Just as a side note, are the yamani islands base on japan? I think some of the culture is quite similar. shrugs Anyway, great fic, and I hope to see many more works!

They're all in character- Owen hasn't lost his jolliness and Kel hasn't lost her. . . Kel-ness. I'm glad your grammar, spelling, and vocabulary doesn't resemble a first grader's- that really takes away from a good storyline. All in all, this was an interesting, finely worded start. Keep going!

I liked the "...but you know what they say about Jesslaw men: they bounce." thing. I don't know why...it just sort of made me think or something...Blah, I don't know what I'm talking about...anyway, I really liked this!
