Lsavad 2006-09-20 ch 12,	abuse2 nights reading and ive finialy finished the story :) And what a read it was, the characters were so... perfect, the writing was beautiful and the story line was just brilliant. I loved the way you made xena fall in love with Ares, as well as loving Gabrielle, it just goes to show, you cant help who you fall in love with. Every chapter of the story had me hooked, so much, i didnt want to leave the pc and go to sleep! The ending seemed to fit really well. When i first started reading, i was so sure i wanted Xena to end up with Ares... But as the story went on and we saw a better glimps into Xena and gabrielles relationship, i just couldnt choose between her and Ares, so im really glad you put them all together :) One of the best storys ive read :) keep up the good work x

And there were mixed reviews about it but most of them were like "Oh Yeah... now that she reminds us!" I was like... "I know her! She is really good!" (personally I think you are better than missy, but I couldn't tell them that.) Thank you so much though you have no idea how it feels to get that message out like that. People still look at me funny when I walk around with my Xena stuff. I have a Xena Journal, and since I am a writer I would carry it around, and they look at my funny. Atiaran 2005-02-23 ch 1,	abuseOkay, on becoming intrigued on hearing your description, I made the time to read this fic. And I'm glad I did. Wow! From prose style to characterization to fight scenes to drama to romance, this fic has it all, encapsulated in a sprawling, epic plot that manages to draw together many disparate elements from throughout the Xenaverse and weave them together into a vast, seamless whole, so that the world truly seemed like a vast and thriving world, while in addition remaining true to the themes of love and forgiveness that have been part of the fabric of the Xenaverse since its inception. Fanfic at its best! Can't pick my favorite moments, there are so many of them--Ares drunk in the tavern, Gabrielle's creepy Callisto-like dream, Xena's dialogues with Eve, Gabrielle fighting Varia, the first time Ares and Xena make love, all the way through to the ending--a happy ending in the sense that the characters have earned it, it wasn't given to them or handed to them, but it was something they had to fight for, struggle for, and suffer for. A realistic ending as well, in that it wasn't a perfect ending or an ideal ending, but nevertheless still happy. And those are, after all, the best kinds. (Though I will admit that some part of me had a flash to Chasing Amy when Gabrielle proposed her solution to Xena ;) ) Truly an excellent piece of work, and all the care you mentioned you put into it clearly shows. Well-done.
Cougaress 2005-01-15 ch 12,	abusePowerful yet crushing, up-lifting yet heart-breaking, inspiring yet overwhelming, empowering yet demoralising, intense and dramatic. I found the story all of these things and more. Such tangled web of lies and deceit, and love and friendship, all mixed with the tragic turn of circumstances. I feel that (in the series) Ares only appealed to Xena because of the darkness that still resisded within her. Yet I found your explanation of events plausable - how could Xena not appreciate how much he sacrificed for her, how could it not grow to a real love? That Xena cared so much for Gabrielle as to let her go showed an insight into the true nature of love, and was extremly well written (so much so that it was devastating). I couldn't see Xena leaving either of them go, and found the solution you wrote the only way out for any of them. I was also pleased with the development of Ares' and Gabrielle's relationship. That she grew to love him in her own way was an important development, I think. How else could she have accepted the situation? I also found that the suffering each had to endure was appropriate to the circumstances. You use and write the characters well, keeping to the nature and personality of that character. Again, a very gripping tale, moving and epic in every sense.

I just wanted to say sorry for those mean subtexters out there who bashed it cause they were so closed minded that they can't handle xena and gabby loving anyone but each other. I mean come on! It could be said that she catered to gabby's feelings to much, disregarding leaving ares's feelings so gabs can feel comfortable ie (at the table i believe) she scrambled to stop holding his hand cause gabby came. But anyway i know you'll take both critisims in stride but my feelings 'screw them' You don't see any shippers complaining Anyways Brava for an excellent piece of writing:):)

I've read a lot of fan fiction, shipper, subtext, maintext, non subber, Ares-centric, etc and one of things that always bothers me is that in some cases, the authors are living out their own personal fantasies with the characters. You don't do that. You write it like it would actually happen but without all the intimate details. 5 Stars. You write with a caring attitude for the characters and their development. Again, 5-stars. You write with a sense of knowledge about the characters. Again, 5-stars. You put up the appropriate disclaimers to warn people of the whole "XAG" triangle. Again, 5-stars. Of course, it may seem like I'm just doing this because LK is a online pal. However, I admired her work long before we became "pals." Again, LK, a wonderful story. BlackDiamond 2003-09-24 ch 7, anon.	abuseWow! There's a lot of hate in this review 'session'. I thought we left this shipper/subtext thing when the season ended! Gosh! If you noticed the story wasn't going the way you liked, quit reading the damn thing! It's like they are mad at you because THEY read it and didn't like the outcome! I personally don't see them spending their time writting. And it's just a story anyway! Like the Ares/Strife stories and the Ares/Iphicles stories, and the Joxer/Gab stories and so on and so forth! Geez! They act like it's a real episde or something! The reason the writers of Xena didn't downright have Gabs and Xena kissing or Ares and Xena together was so that people could read the relationships different ways. And if you read a ot of the stories, people read every relationship EVERY way...even those that didn't even meet in the series were together! Oh, and by the way LadyKate, this, like al your stories was perfect, and I hope to see a lot more from you! The rate of new stories has decreased to the piont of almost nothing. Skkye Blue isn't even writing anything! Please continue! Peace!

It's totally different from the usual 1-dimensional romances that has up to now been the lot of the average Xena fan. You've should be proud to get so many angry reviews - obviously your characters really got under people's skins! I loved your Gabrielle. She was such a strong, interesting character - and yes, it's good that she finally got out and got a life. I loved your Xena. Forget the "superXena" of the show - this woman was real, and vulnerable, and far more fascinating that way. I loved your Ares, learning how to be human. His reaction to the early poem was fascinating. What a twist at the end - and yet you made it believable. It takes a true writer to take on such a difficult topic, which is why I've never read anything like this before. Forget people who'd prefer the run of the mill romance - this story is for people who think.

xpossibilities 2003-09-24 ch 4, anon.	abuseThe problem here lies in the presentation. False advertising and extremely unsympathetic characters are at the crux of my compelled criticism. "This story shows Xena as being in love with both Gabrielle and Ares". This is the premise. Yet it could not be further from the truth. I see NO equality of relationships between Xena & Gabrielle and Xena & Ares. Xena seems to stay attached to Gabrielle out of pity and guilt. Her mind is always on Ares, his needs, his feelings. F*cking Ares is all that really matters. Gabrielle can be left, for her own good of course. But never Ares. The Xena that I see depicted here is insensitive, indecisive, selfish, and inexplicable. Gabrielle lets herself be emotionally disregarded, and trampled upon, again and again. By the end, she's sharing a bed with both Xena and Ares. Huh? If anything, this is Ares' story. Here he gets to be sensitive, noble, and coddled. (And have scads of bed-breaking sex.) Who knew that after all is said and done, Xena and Gabrielle really weren't complete without a man. These 3 characters are unrecognizable to me. Unrecognizable and unlikable. The lack of heart and respect in this story, profoundly disturbed me. BUT it did make me more grateful than ever for the beautiful Xena & Gabrielle relationship actually portrayed in the series.
