As one of your other reviewers noted, the Federation needed this wake-up call, or it would have been woefully unprepared to face the Dominion and other, farther-flung threats. I have to wonder, though - what alternative courses of action did Q contemplate? How else might he have stimulated the United Federation of Planets, and what horrors could he have unleashed in some other timeline?

Considering the dangers of the Borg (it took a rumored fleet of five hundred starships to do the damage that they inflicted on the Borg cube once it arrived at Earth in First Contact) Wolf 359 was indeed a brutal but necessary preperation ground for what was to come.

Not bad, not bad at all. It's sometimes hard to find an author who can write Q in character, but you did it pretty well.

i thought this fic was well written. it has a sense that picard always knows more than he lets on to. i can see how the federation needed to be threatened and build a larger fleet in preparation for another borg attack. it then just fell into the dominion wars. one event prepares for the next even worse event. well written. well written indeed.

Interesting that the Federation needed the threat of the Borg to be able to defeat the Dominion. I like this idea alot. (As a history student, I find this line of reasoning especially intruiging.) This is a thought-provoking story.
