Reviews for: Lamentation for a Villain
Jazzi Strife
2005-03-25 . chapter 1
Wow.. you know, I've reviewed this once before. But I didn't give it the credit it deserved. I am reading it again today.. almost two years I think. I don't know why but I just love this poem. I've reread it eight times tonight, and can't get enough. The villian's point of view is so rarely stated. Thank you Crimson Sun. Thank you.

Great poem...for something that could come from one of many character POV's it's written so well! I especially like how it speaks to the audience, and accuses them and all the conventional heroes. And yeah, I love the pro-villain perspective too...we all know who the more fascinating charcters are, don't we? ;)

wow, another great poem! keep it up. neva rly think of the villians knowing they are and that in order for others to win, they must loose

I have a small suggestion, that you cna or can not use...it's up to you. Your two lines of:
Too busy being heroes, the world needs none of those!
Yet as long as you keep winning, I guess I'll have to lose
Does not rhyme...I thought you could end the second line with the the word "foes" somehow to make it rhyme. This poem is still one of my favorites though. -Jassi

This poem is simply awesome. I loved every second of it, infact it's a poem I will re-read. Keep up the great work! -Jassi

Well... after the lovely review you left for 'Science Apart,' I figured I would have to surf over to your stories... and I really, really enjoyed this poem. It's complex, poignant, dryly sarcastic (ever notice that so-called villains often get the best lines?), and all-in-all wonderfully executed. Delicious irony throughout, by the way.
Keep up the great work, and keep seeing the world from a different angle - the fandom (and the world at large...) needs more people like you! (although, um... the Hojo-obsession is kinda scary... *chuckles*... nah, whatever floats your boat; I'm a huge Snape fan, so... That, or I simply find the "morally ambiguous" characters more interesting, anyways...)
Kudos, and Regards,
~Sabriel.

FANTASTIC! I have always had a thing for villains, claiming that they are misunderstood and have much angst. This is a great poem for villains everywhere. This goes on my fav stories too.

Very sweet poem. Can't help being pro-villain, especially in fantasy series where it's much easier to get attached to the characters, not to mention that they probably have more morals and more sympathetic motives than 'real' criminals and such people.

Hm...can't think of anybody else right now. Except maybe Jack Sparrow from PotC (if you consider him a villain), Hannibal Lecter from the Thomas Harris trilogy (if cannibalism doesn't sicken you), or Vicious from Cowboy Bebop (but I'd have to know more to make a fair judgement on his motives). 'Villains' all have their reasons (and then the villains with traumatic childhoods on top of it all). Again, as aforementioned, 'tis a nice poem.

That was really really nice poem... ^_^
But I don't think this poem can refer to Hojo...I think that guy is just pure evil.

Though I love the heroes of almost any anime, etc. I do have a soft spot for some villians...especially those in FF7. Nice little tribute to the villians...hehehe. I liked this. Good stuff.

Keep writing!

Wow, yes. I completely agree, and I always have. I HATE it when people are treated as pure evil and never given a chance. And there are so many of them out there, in video games, anime, movies, books... Everything! It's horribly sad, and very few people seem to care. Arg, I hate it. There's no such thing as a pure evil person. Stupid self-righteous heroes... *goes off to mutter resentfully*
