Reviews for TDiRS Concept Trailers

do you work in Hollywood ?

v. accurate. I would go see this film. ur right about Ian Mckellen. how about Anna popplewell as Jane. (have you even heard of her?)
Eldrice 8/18/04 . chapter 5
Hey, I really liked these! Where's SOTT? Update soon : ).

I usually like casting unknowns for child characters, but I have a suggestion for Will: Nicholas Hoult, who was Marcus in "About A Boy." I know he's not the most handsome kid out there, but damn, he can act. And he can do the whole "a-child-forced-into-maturity-while-still-remainin g-a-child" act incredibly well.

Someone below suggested the guy who plays Jekyll/Hyde from LXG as the Rider . . . GOOD IDEA! I think a creepy Rider with a large dose of sarcasm would be ideal (comic relief for those of us with the blackest sense of humor).

What about Ben Kingsley for Merriman? McKellan is an incredible actor, but I'm getting tired of seeing him as a wizard/evil mutant, I think we need a change. Kingsley can be creepy and dignified and lovable all in one. And he's got Merriman's "flashing dark eye." Don't know what you'd do about the hair though . . . maybe a wig would work?

A really dirty Sean Penn or Dustin Hoffman (preferably Hoffman) for the Walker?

I love Gabriel Byrne, I'm nominating him for Rowlands . . . and I think he's Welsh, too?

Update soon!

Comments on the cast list:

Will: Shia La Bouf or however you spell his name doesn't fit the description at all...

Jane: I think Rachel Hurd-Wood would be better, but I'm a little prejudiced against Emma Watson for reasons unknown even to myself

Barney: go ahead!

Simon: sure...

Merriman: lol I can't see Alan Rickman as Merriman...it would be nice if Richard Harris was still alive, he'd be perfect, but since he isn't, I must say Sir Ian McKellen would be best

The Lady: Cate Blanchett would be perfect!

Painter of the dark (from Greenwitch): *giggles* Hugo Weaving would be perfect too

John Rowlands: *confused face* sure...

The Rider: out of the two...I don't know...I would suggest Elijah Wood for this part except that I don't know how he'd look with red hair and that he doesn't exactly have that bad guy aura...

I might also suggest John Noble to play the Walker, or the guy who played Filch in HP (loved the trailers, btw!)

Wow! I read all the chapters, and I must say, I love this. You're right; they SHOULD make them into movies, but I never thought about it before I read these trailers. You have a great skill at this, you should become a producer. Here's my list of possible actors/actresses:

Merriman: Ian Mckellen (you're right, he's great), Hugo Weaving (Elrond; it's possible).

Will: Jake Thomas (Anakin Skywalker; if he grows up and gets some acting skills), the guy who plays Peter in the new Peter Pan movie (same ageless quality, but a bit more childlike).

The Lady: Cate Blanchett (DEFINETLY), Liv Tyler (if she waa blond).

Jane: Emma Watson (perfect).

Simon: The boy who plays Slightly in the new Peter Pan movie (the one with the crooked teeth, who says "Aye, that's a kiss").

Barney: The boy who plays Michael in the new Peter Pan movie.

Bran: The boy who plays Leto in the Children of Dune movie (possibly).

That's all I can think of right now. Keep writing!

*drools all over self* that was good... and they'd have to get an unknown for Bran, and he'd have to wear contacts... aw, i wish they would make films...
Chyneua 6/3/04 . chapter 1
Wow these are quite good - I especially like the bit at the end of OVer Sea, Under Stone about the fairy tales...

I can't think of anyone quite perfect enough for Will that I would be happy with. I think Christopher Lee as the Grey King sounds good. Kevn Bacon as the Rider is great, and Ian McKellan as Merriman works.

I can't wait for Silver on the Tree - keep it up! :-)

Cool trailers-you have a good visual sense. TDIRS
are all very visual books, and would cost a lot less to make than either the Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings films.
Christopher Lee would make a great voice actor for
the Grey King. To do the voice of the Greenwitch, I think it would be best to make a "scratch track"
of several people talking simultaniously-you could probably do something similar for the voice of Tethys. I like the idea of McClellen as Merryman, but perhaps it would be better to cast
unknowns as the children. It's sometimes better-
and less distracting-to have a character played by somebody who isn't instantly recognisable.

The concept trailer was ,my friends and I are wishing and hoping that they really are now we are to help you...I don't think Shia would fit as Will Stanton becuase no.1,he's already .2,he does not look serious enough to be Will Stanton(hehehe).Well, thats what I think.I would like to recommend Joey Gaydos(A little make over would do.)or Rory Culkin(The Signs)or Billy Gilman(Besides Will is a good singer...You also have to take that fact)...And Haley is great for the role of Simon...But if you want to put Elijah in the cast, you just choose among the two-Haley or Elijah...well thats all...my friends and I are really more than happy to help so keep us posted, you wouldn't know...maybe next month or next...well year, you become the script writer of the MOVIE...keep writing...I'm sure your writings will go a long way.
the Lady Katherine 3/13/04 . chapter 3
Hey, I was just re-reading your concept trailers, and I noticed that you don't have an actress to play the Greenwitch yet. It occurred to me that the woman who played Moaning Myrtle in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (whatever her name is) might be a good candidate, since her "Myrtle voice" is something like what I'd imagined for the Greenwitch. I dunno. Maybe not. But it's just a suggestion!
Cheers,
the Lady Katherine

yipee! for a while there i almost thought they *were* making these into movies! i can almost see the trailers playing. now, i don't know anything about actors at all, so i'm sure whomever you pick will be fine. ever thought about writing the complete screenplays for them? just a thought. oh, and since you're trying to put together a cast, have you thought about directors/producers/composers that you want to do the series? if you're putting together the cast, why not start on the production crew at the same time? hey, maybe it'll happen if you do! and don't forget they'll need a complete first draft of the script, too, so keep that in mind.
no, i'm not trying to make more work for you. i just think it's a good idea. maybe a collaboration to write the scripts would be better and easier for you. i'm available, if you care to explore the script idea some more. not that i know *how* to write a script properly, but i'm pretty good at improvising. good luck and have fun!
oh, and i'll be waiting impatiently for the last trailer, and wondering if you'll do a set of full-length scripts or not. so keep me posted. thanks for writing the trailers!
Gijinka Renamon 2/21/04 . chapter 5
COOL! Please do more!
custardpringle 2/5/04 . chapter 5
Glad to see you're back on the job . . . this just keeps getting better. Can't wait to see what you do with "Silver on the Tree."
Alex 2/2/04 . chapter 4
Very good job, I like it. And yeah, you can change your accent, if your talented. I mean, I didn't know Ewan McGregor was Scottish until I saw him doing an interview on Star Wars, and Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith/Elrond) talks all weird and slow like that to cover his. Oh, and if you revise your chapters your reviews do stay because it's kind of like for proofreading and changing little details for when the stor goes on and you want to change things. So, yeah. Good luck on the next one! Peace, Alex.
Guest 2/1/04 . chapter 5
Perhaps if you bleached Elijah Wood's hair... :p
I think that Jason Flemying (Hyde/Jekyll in LXG) would make a good Dark Rider. Or Damian Lewis.
Very fun. Keep it up!
Psychozzy 1/31/04 . chapter 5
OOh, I like this. I haven't read all the books, but I still get the idea of what's going on and it's very intriguing. I liked how you did the whole thing with Will trying to read Welsch and Bran's saying "Ack! Stop, stop!" TGK was actually my fave so, yeah. Anyways, when you say "the kid who played Anakin Skywalker" which movie do you mean: Ep 1 or Ep 2? But, yeah, I like the idea of the kid who was the drummer in School of Rock playing Will because I really liked that kid. He was the greatest. Keep up the good work! -Ozzy-
