very nice. I have a few comments though. They're nothing bad, just a few thoughts for you to remember that I wish I would have used for my writing sooner.
1. longer chapters with more detail.
2. shorter author note. Just get out what you need to say before the reader gets annoyed with the author notes and doesn't read the story anymore.
3. the characters are a little OOC but that's okay as long as you don't get too out of line (i.e., Hiei prancing around in pink picking flowers *shutters*
4. update sooner. Keeps people intrested and won't forget the story.

I would tell you what I think of this fic, but I don't get Yu-Yu Hakushoo, so none of this clicks with me...

I read this fic back when it was just a one-shot. Actually, I think I liked it better as a one-shot. It was the kind of angst I like best: Tear-jerking, heart-breaking, and with one chance for salvation at the end. The main reason why I don't like it as much now is that Hiei's awakening doesn't follow the stages of a coma.

There are a few different stages that comatose people go through. I can't remember them very well right now, but it doesn't matter. Just think of them as the different stages of waking, only more drawn-out and sickly. Even the coma itself is a stage; the worst one. People who 'wake up' sometimes never fully come out of it, strange as that sounds.

I know I sound like I'm nit-picking, but this really is important to me because my father was in a coma for eight months. He died without ever fully waking up.
