The Lauderdale 2005-08-02 . chapter 7Re: Chapter 7 - Of course Alagaith will be fine, and Gurshak is surely going down. Aw, but I hope not dead! He seems like such a doofus. [thinks of younger Tanglinna] Albeit a very creepy doofus. Ok, beat him up a little. This is going great! I love the further insights we are receiving for both these characters, particularly Alagaith.
On a sidenote, I realized it is being somewhat oomphed up for comic/suspenseful effect, but Alagaith and Tanglinna seem a touch too naive/horrified by homosexuality to be entirely believable. Maybe it's the whole Elven-purity thing, but even if homosexuality is personally repugnant to them, I'm surprised that they euphemize and speak around it with one another as coyly as they do. They sound like insecure sixteen-year-old guys rather than warriors who are thousands and thousands of years old and who have surely encountered far more astonishing things in their long lifetimes than the concept of romantic intimacy between two males. |
 A. Person 2005-05-16 . chapter 11 Buwahahaha! Hee hee he! That is great: Tanglinna and Alagaith in a mock duel. Alagaith will win - most likely. But I like Tanglinna's comment: "Celair-Dagnir had been made for hacking and bashing in war, not prancing about and parrying like some dandyish fop!" An interesting way to describe a duel... And it is not very - wise to tell someone to disturb your king, even if the king is good and wise. (guffaws) It is also very nice that Seven, Fin., and Gwindor are going to be living in Laketown nearby - very nice indeed. I love happy endings! Or at least, those that seem happy... ;) |
 A. Person 2005-05-12 . chapter 9 Well, this chapter is solid proof that if everyone drank orcish brandy the world would be a better place. |
 A. Person 2005-05-12 . chapter 8 Well, it is nice to know that Alagaith came out of the fight unscathed. Tanglinna certainly overreacted to the "joke". It was very noble of Alagaith to knock out Gurshak instead of killing him. (heh heh, sucker!) I am so glad that they became on good terms (although that is knid of obvious, based on the prologue) and that Tanglinna let Alagaith go free. But 'Afine evening and a fine ending'... that is surely inviting disaster... DUN Dun dun! |
 A. Person 2005-05-10 . chapter 7 Dun dun duun.. Muwahahaha! And the plot thickens! Well, Alagaith was certainly a *very* good teacher... How intersting to learn about orc courting. And well... Tanglinna style courting (snorts)... Poor dearie. Alagaith is such a selfless soul... (I think..) Ah well, it must all turn out well, for they *both* are oobviously alive and well, at least well enough to have been reading and answering reviews when the story was written... (YES!) |
 A. Person 2005-05-10 . chapter 5 What the heck? Do I *want* to be certain of what Gurshak did? Or will do? (ew) Poor, poor Tanglinna. Sucks for the both of them. |
 A. Person 2005-05-05 . chapter 3 Run Alagaith! It is certainly NOT cool what he did to Tanglinna, but why then am I sniggering? Well, if he's caught, life will stink for Alagaith... Well, anyways, Tanglinna may be cool, but in this chapter, Alagaith is awsome. (sniggers some more) |
Elf of Sirannon 2004-08-22 . chapter 5The image of those two Elves locked in an embrace is very funny...particularly since they hate each others guts.
Those Orcs seem very nicely dressed, why I wonder? Ah, brandy. That explains it. Is that how Aglaiath and Tanglinna know about Orcish brandy? I thought it was strange when they were discussing it at the start of the story. Oh well. I hope that since these Orcs are merchants they won't be very quick to kill the two Elves.
I like the fact that Agalaith knows they won't be as prejudiced about other races than perhaps a noble warrior would be. That thought had crossed my mind too; many of our most beloved characters in LOTR are noble and valiant but because they are so insulated and rarely are around other groups they are guarded to the point of hostility. For example, Legolas or Eomer when we first meet them. It's only after the War has been going on for a while that they loosen up and become good friends with the other heroes of the story. People like Aragorn, for example, who has travelled to every single country for like, hundreds of years (exaggeration, obviously, lol) are much more open minded and accepting of each race and country. |
Elf of Sirannon 2004-08-22 . chapter 4Hello! I bet you thought since my daily barrage of reviews had stopped, that I'd forgotten about you. Fret not! Elf of Sirannon never forgets (well only if she forgets not to forget, or if she forgets to not forget to not forget...hm)
Anyway poor Aglaiath, with the eyepatch. Those young Elves need smacks on their bot-bots. |
Elf of Sirannon 2004-08-12 . chapter 3"My eyes flicked over the eye patch, which brought a brief flow of unpleasant and unwanted memories." Poor Tanglinna. After all this time it still hurts him to remember his sister.
"Scars may mar the skin, but they mark the soul as well. As elves do not scar easily, they are usually the result of a deliberate act. Scars are a constant reminder of the act that brought them into being or in the case of the cam-tehta the act that perpetrated it. One must learn to live with them, and this is not always an easy thing." Is that a reference to Tanglinna's own scar, the dark mark, that the orc gave him in Doriath?
I'm still wondering how an Elf could possibly be driven to lead the lifestyle to which this Noldo has become accustomed.
Oh, it's horrible to think of Elves having such a punishment as dismemberment. That fits with Sil, but it's still a horrid thought. I thought they were supposed to be so enlightened, so "above men". *sigh*
All these Elven laws are really harsh; makes me glad I live in the world of Men and we have a thing called Forgiveness.
Ai, he cut Tanglinna's hand? I hope he's OK, that's so mean. *smacks his Noldo bum* |
Elf of Sirannon 2004-08-06 . chapter 1Ooh, I'm intrigued now! Who is this new Elf?
I am actually glad you put Tanglinna in the dungeon - it's realistic, you know? Coz he was quite naughty during recent events, and it stands to reason Thrandy wouldn't just let that fly; no matter how close Tanglinna was to Oropher, he still has to obey the rules. |
 Lindele 2004-08-02 . chapter 11This was a great story! :) |
aurora 2004-07-01 . chapter 11 well written and wonderfully put together.
my poor tanglinna does get himself into some scraps lately. never mind i will kiss all his hurts better when they have finished entertaining all blue drawers himself. i like the lastest elf to swell the ranks. alagaith i am delighted that you are keeping tangy on his toes but please play nicely with him he does get a little irate sometimes but i wouldn't have him any other way also you could join up with the tricksy trio (aurora grins wickedly) but that is another story for our lady tree to write. lady tree, once again you have thrill us with your writing and giving us so many different views of tanglinna i am gobsmacked i doft my cap to you
till next time
yours Aurora |
 Phoenix Flight 2004-06-14 . chapter 11 I'm back!
I can't wait to see the outcome of the duel! Please continue!
Thanks for updating!! |
Miss Aranel 2004-06-02 . chapter 11Late as always – perhaps one of my summer goals should be promptness. I’m halfway there…I promptly read, I just don’t promptly review.
I enjoyed Alagant’s appearance in the responses – and the child has charm with the printer! Go Alagant! (*Little One offers a double high-five* “Using the screwdriver would have been excellent fun though…I wonder what a printer looks like inside? |
