This is like my favorite. drabble. EVER! You did such a great job of setting the scene, and introducing Serena's father who we don't know, but feel like we do after reading this short story. Bravo!

Heh heh heh. Short, yet very...what's the word I want? Darn, I forget. What I mean is that you've revealed a lot about both characters and setting subliminally and without a lot of words. KUDOS as many people here would say.

Oh well. I really, really like this :) You say so much with so few words, setting up the whole snobby upper-class passive-aggressive dad dynamic so well. Poor Elizabeth!

Yes, this is so true to life...gotta love family get togethers. I never really saw Elizabeth and Serena as a potential couple. I'm a big Elizabeth/Mike Logan shipper. But it's all good Elizabeth and Serena can work too.

I'm sorry if I'm out of step with any other readers/reviewers, but I can sympathize with Serena's father. His beautiful, very intelligent, very well-educated daughter has brought home a woman instead of a man. He wants her to marry and have children eventually, and I'm sure he honestly believes that this is not the true path to happiness for Serena. Of course he's not happy. Yes, Elizabeth's reply was perfect, though.

Interesting little story...I liked the way Elizabeth spoke up to "Mr. Sotheryln", but sorry, I still would like to see Lennie and Elizabeth as a couple!!
