| SunStar6 2008-08-21 ch 24, | abuseWow, your stories are so vivid and rich in character. Been a fan of all your stories because they not only fill in the gaps where Nightworld lapses, but the characters you've created (especially Blue and Chatoya) are so real that it feels as if L.J Smith has been giving you guidance all along :) Looking forward to reading more, and seeing if Blue and Chatoya can eventually learn to love each other for who they are. Even though Blue is pure evil and I'd hate for you to take all of his evilness away :P Anyway, great work, I also love Cougar and Jepar :) Keep writing! SunStar~ |
| Rose Kitty 2008-07-11 ch 1, | abuseOkay, I had to leave you another review after I found out these are YOUR characters not LJ Smith's! -Gasp- So even Blue, and Chatoya, they're your characters as well? Dear lord. You know I skimmed through Chimera before deciding to read Ripples, and for some reason I thought it would be one of those fics I wouldn't be able to understand because I wasn't familiar with the Night World series. So, I decided to read Ripples instead. Huh. I'm gonna have to go back and read it now, lol. And another thing- how'd you manage to come up with such fitting character names? Because I know that whenever I write an original fic, it's always difficult to think of names for a character; you don't want them to be common names, and they need to fit the character's personality and be memorable at the same time. When some authors try to go for the whole 'unusual names' thing, they just end up having names that are too weird and can't even be pronounced. (For example I read a story once where the main character was called Krthiqan. I don't know about you, but that name just doesn't do it for me.) So, yea. Delphine's name totally suited her character, as did Finn's and Blue's and Zeke's. Actually, they all fit really well. What I am trying to say here, is that you are an even more amazing author than I originally thought. Heh. And I'm really glad you're going to end up writing that Celia/ Ri story sometime. And Aspen; you know I had to go running to read your story called Remember because you said it has some Aspen in it- he's becoming one of my favorite characters as well. Anyway, enough of my rambling. Keep up the awesome work, -Rose |
| Rose Kitty 2008-07-10 ch 24, | abuseWow. That was...amazing. I can't believe your story has only 200ish reviews; there need to be more, way more, because this is an exceptional peice of work. I have never read the Nightworld series, although I am a huge LJ Smith fan. =) Your story still made sense, however. I loved all the characters, especially Riose, Celia, and Finn. I wish you'd write a story about Ri and Celia. And for some reason, I really liked Aspen's character, even though we don't get to see much of him, I liked the way you described him. The fic as a whole was beautifully written, I actually cried at parts. And the ending, in my opinion, could not have been any better. Really, your story is without flaw. And I always manage to find a flaw in most people's stories, haha, so coming from me that's really a compliment. =) Well done! -Rose |
| Kelly 2008-07-01 ch 9, anon. | abuseomg...you probably don't remember me...but I used to be an avid reader of your stories...used the name "insane" lol...I'm so happy I've come across this...I love it, and it's touching me just like the very first piece of yours I read did...I can't wait to get home and finish it! |
| Savage Midnight 2008-05-26 ch 24, | abuseI wanted to wait until I read the entire thing before I reviewed, because there's only so much I can squee and say I love you before it gets annoying. I'm not exaggerating when I say that you are my favourite author. Above any I've ever read, published or otherwise. I have never in my life read the work of someone with such imagination, such beautiful execution, and you never, ever fail to astound me. I've loved many-an-author and many-a-book, but they always seem to disappoint at one time or another. You never do. Your characters never get old and your stories never turn stale. I think its because you never tread over old ground. No matter how many times you write about past characters, I always learn something new and interesting and compelling. And your new characters stand out so vividly that I can't but love them and feel for them the way I do for your first characters. The way you weave these plot, the way you mix desolation and hope and humour and realism is... breathtaking. It really is. You can bring a lump to my throat with one sentence, make me giggle with another, and I don't know how you do it. And you do it just right. Never too heavy, but never too light. And the lessons they learn are never easy and never simple, and when I think I know everything you're trying to say, you go further, and it makes me stop and think. I'm amazed with the way you create these characters and the way they think. I was wary about reading this at first, I must admit. I didn't want to see your first characters, like Toya and Blue and Jepar and Lisa relegated to the background. But that never happened. Even though some of them weren't there, their stories are there, Toya and Blue's especially. And you know how much I adore them. I've told you so many times. I live for any Blue scenes, because you do so much with his character. I never know what he's going to do, never know when he's finally going to settle, although I know he never really will. And it keeps me reading. But your new characters... I could love them, definitely. And I like the fact that this generation are compelling within themselves without being replicas of the first generation. I like that you haven't made the mistake of most authors and tried to recapture the same elements that made the first wave so successful. Because these new elements are impressive all on their own. I care about these characters already. I want to see more of them. I like that we're seeing them at the beginning of their paths, that we're their to witness the trials and tribulations that are going to make them and break them. As for the story... I'm not going to quote what I liked because I'll end up quoting paragraph after paragraph. The ending, though, was... wow. It wasn't contrived and predictable. That's what I love about your writing. Sometimes the hero dies or is broken and they don't come back from that. So I honestly didn't know if Zeke would return. But he did and the way he returned made sense. It wasn't a miracle; it was simply his nature. And the timing of that revelation, of who he was, was perfect. I actually had tears in my eyes. But I'll stop rambling now. I just wanted to say thank you for writing another fantastic tale. I love taking these journeys with you and I can't wait to read the rest of Lisa's story, too :) |
| Anterrabae 2008-05-03 ch 24, | abusePhew! Great last chapter. I really loved this story and I'm glad that it had a happy ending. I'm very curious to see what was up with Blue and that date. Your foreshadowing is just painful, girl! I'll be looking forward to your next story, and especially to Haloed.. what can I say, I just love Blue. Once again, amazing job! I don't know how you remember all of the little details about your characters' histories and plan out all the intricate plot twists so well. You're simply incredible. |
| animus.vox 2008-05-01 ch 24, | abuseFantastic ending! I got a little misty-eyed in the middle there, I have to admit. I was really surprised by the ending, I would not have guessed that you'd have brought Zeke back. I'm glad though! I wonder, will he live forever? After Phi dies, will he just keep coming back over and over? That could be a terrible future... I'm interested by the hints of the story of Celia and Riose. I really like the Sloane family, they're among my favourites of your characters. I wonder what it must be like for Phi to have that knowledge of their relationship? Very difficult I can imagine. Also, I hope that you write the story of Persephone one of these days. Your intertwining of Greek mythology with these stories is amazing. It leaves so many open-ended questions. Thank you for another lovely read! -Melissa |
| Daugain 2008-04-30 ch 24, anon. | abuseAh, a story with a hopeful / happy ending :) It gives me a warm feeling, I was sure this was going to be another tragedy. I'm a bit confused over what Phi did to herself earlier, though... didn't she get Ryar to un-make her as a mer? So if she was then human, how did she inherit her mother's power? This was an intensely romantic story. Zeke and Phi seem almost too perfect for each other, like the opposite couple to the horrible chaos of Chatoya and Blue. Lovely twist at the end :D |
| Kristiana 2008-04-29 ch 24, anon. | abuseOne last thing that's probably a little more relevant to the story! The ending was PERFECT. I think it would have been cheesey if Ryar just showed up with Zeke in tow, saying "oh yeah, he's come back to life" but the way you brought him back was PERFECT. I really don't mind a sad ending, but this happy one was wonderful. |
| Kristiana 2008-04-29 ch 24, anon. | abuseHi! I've been reading your work for a very long time now and over time you have become one of my favorite authors, be it fanfiction or published books. I love all the depth that you put into each of your characters, and the fact that no one is just an "extra" in your stories. Blue and Toya are my favorite (bah, cliche) but I enjoyed this story too, what with the Pod/Pack politics. It was also interesting to see how others in Ryars Valley viewed the Furies, as opposed to only seeing them through the Grieving Fury's eyes (haha I also love how Toya has already made her mark enough to get a nickname). Also Celia Slone is probably my new favorite character. She's fiesty. I was wondering what you were going to be working on next, because I am very excited to start reading it. |
| Yen 2008-04-26 ch 24, anon. | abuseThis is a beautiful story! You write love as something grand, tragic and wondrous. This ending was just perfect. :) Thank you for writing! |
| xxx Queen Of Slayers xxx 2008-04-26 ch 24, | abuseThank god Ryar didn't die, She was my favorite character! Is it the end of the story? x QoS x |
| Shelli 2008-04-25 ch 24, anon. | abuseOK, I forgive you. Lovely chapter - so sad. Poor Phi. Poor all of them. They've grown up so much during this story. That said, I'm looking forward to your next one and seeing a bit more of Circle Strange (coughCougarcough). Mind you, this has been the first happy ending for a while and that's nice to see. Good luck with the orignal stuff - you must tell me when something of yours comes into print. You can come out of the corner when you give Blue and Toya a happy ending. x |
| yutakalamia 2008-04-25 ch 24, | abuseLOL wow that's a rather remarkable ending. I love it how you manage to slot in an idea for the sequel in every ending. I think it ended nicely with Ryar talking to Phi. After all, Ryar's probably like a god to them... |
| tracing-tt 2008-04-24 ch 24, | abuseWhat! Ki, oh Ki! I cannot believe it, you make my tears fall multiple times during this chapter, but that in itself is not that much of a surprise (I know what you are capable of when you write XD)--it's just that--Phoenix! Oh my god! You are so clever--this is a bigger shock than anything! Aww...you're teasing me with the snippets of stories to come..Blue, Celia and Ri...I want more. Also, I am repeatedly amazed at how much the songs you choose fit into each chapter. I didn't think I'd come to like Phi this much. I wish we'd seen more of Zeke though, but I can understand why we can't, with the plot as it is. Hmm...although to be honest, I don't think Zeke and Phi's relationship is as interesting as the others, but the last few chapters made me like them more. Oh and from what I gather, you love music, don't you, especially the lyrics? I think you'd like Vienna Teng, her songs are quite poetic. I've only listened to a few songs, but Drought and Eric's Song are definitely worth checking out. I can send Drought to you via e-mail, if you want? |
