Oh, this is one of the best glimpses into Sark I've read. The last line is, of course, a killer. The story as a whole, although short, is very effective; the prose is perfect, each line hitting its mark, packing a punch. Excellent piece. :)

I LOVE your Sark! His thoughts, his feelings, all beautifully subdued but vibrant nonetheless. Loved the mentions of Irina and Francie, I get the general gist of the change in Alison thru his eyes but it's very obscure still. Really good fic!

Maybe he'd never met Francie, maybe he does regret that he'll never be able to... but Francie would be that innocence, that loyalty, that Allison could never be, never was. He didn't have to fear Francie turning on him at the least sign of an alternative motive...

I love that last line, him wishing for his bed to be alone... frankly, after that much time of living alone, sleeping alone, being alone almost all of his time of every day, I can't imagine the unsettling nature of suddenly having to share anything of yourself with someone.
