Not that I don't usually, but this one had that extra specialness. hehehe, I'm so sad. Anyway, I think (despite it not being canon) this could quite easily have happened. Too bad she had to die... Aw, that's where I just smile like the cat who's got the cream :) Very nice writing, and a lovely moment between Wes and Lilah. The fact that he too remembers her just plain 'content/happy' smile from Slouching Towards Bethleham was wonderful. That was the scene where most people sat up and thought 'hang on a sec, those two are happy and they're not boinking like bunnies.' You've also got their banter down just right. One moment it's frankly alarmingly sweet and normal, and the next one of them will make a comment that reminds us and them of the real world. Great fic! OT, if you're interested... And no, I don't think it was too quirky (the show is pretty much a conglomeration of quirks) nor do I think it was too optimistic (we all know how it ends, and the reading into subtext is part of the fun). Anyway, I really enjoy watching Wes and Lilah trying to do "normal" things, and your story was a great one. |
