I just want to thank you for writing this. I have been a huge fan of Paul playing Romano. I knew weeks in advance that his character was going to be killed off, still watching it unfold right before my eyes, a part of me died with him. What a wonderful tribute.

You write very well. I hope to perhaps see some fiction from you telling of the happy days we all know are his true fate- not the lies these NBC bastards are feeding us. You write better than them anyway! Keep up the great work!

I like the flow of this rather well!! I like the tie in with 'sometime tomorrow' and the like... the beat of the whole piece, how everything is put together. I didn't watch ER very much, though I know my mum is a rabid fan... I knew the characters (not as well as you, but I did like them) and this makes me horribly sad for him. Wish i had seen the episode, so I could properly give a review.

Damn TPTB...When I saw the previews for the ep that shall not be named I cried. I looked at my mom and said," So now the f^**ing helicopter is going to fall on him."
After seeing Freefall I cried for about an hour after the show ended. It hurt me to see that no one in the ER cared that he was missing and had been out there when the chopper fell. I hope we get some closure in the shows to come.
I'm going to give props to the directors of the scene and to Paul Mccrane. It's probably one of the best death scenes I've watched.That scene will forever be ingrained in my memory as one of the most chilling scenes ever...Thank you for writing this fic..Wish there were more of us who loved him.

I would like to apologize to the author and anyone else who read my review. WHile I will not apologize for my opinion, I realize that there is an appropriate place to express one's feelings about something, and to publicly castigate a character in something that was meant to praise him was clearly far beyond the boundaries of good taste. I will also admit that while I didn't particularly like him, he was one of the reasons that I tuned into ER even after several other interesting characters had left.
I would also like to say that I believe that it was exceptionally cruel of the writers of ER to treat Romano's last moments with such disdain. He may have been hard to like, but he at least deserved to get a dignified farewell, not the kiss-off that they gave him. Romano was entitled to more than that, and so was Paul Mccrane. One wonders if the writers had actually planned this earlier in the season or they just decided to do it without any notice. (One wonders if they will even give him the honor of some memorial when the show returns in December.)
I have not trusted the judgement of those behind the scenes of 'ER' at least since they broke up Carter and Abby. This was just superfluous and impersonal and cold. If the show continues to treat the characters in such a disdainful fashion, the exodus of fans that has been going on for the past two years is likely to accelerate. Even those of us who didn't like the characters can agree on that.

I couldn't believe that they would do that to Robert, I cried and called my best friend and we just can not believe that they would do that to him...I only hope, that maybe he's not really dead...maybe he's just hurt...okay a girl can dream right, they did say something devastating would change his life forever...not something that would change the ER forever. This was a beautiful remembrance...

First of all, let me say that your work was touching and very compassionate, I thought that they chose a real cowards way out to kill of Romano. But I just got to say... why is everybody so bent out of shape? I don't like how, but I'm not going to miss him mmuch. Romano was an interesting character in small doses, but when he became a regular he became intolerable. Indeed, his sole purpose from Season 6 on seemed to be to tell everybody how baly they were screwing up. It would have ben interesting if he ,maybe once a season he was compasionate, but the guy was just as Stephen King called a sinilar character 'officious little prick' What's more, during the last three years , he had been homophobic, sexist and barely concealed racist. At least Weaver had some compassion, Romano had no redeeming qualities at all. (How the hell can you nedle someone who just underwent brain surgery?)
I will admit that he got a couple of bad breaks, but one would think after something like what happened in 'Chaos Theory' he would rethink his philosophy. He was unpleasant and hostile and utterly unlikable. I don't know if its possible to save 'ER' (its been on a downward spiral ever since Benton left) but getting rid of Romano is a step in the right direction. I can't imaginge the characters missing him very much, I know I won't. Sorry, but that's what I think.
