star-dust55 9/6/05 . chapter 1
O.k. this is one of my best friends’ review that informs some people on Rei Hino’s past and important stuff like that. Now I asked Deaths.Bloody.Rose if I could use this review to inform some random (Or you maybe be a Rei hater, I really hope not!) so please if you wish to use the following review please e-mail and ask her before you do anything to this review if you are going to chain it around to people! This is her review and she spent quite a bit of her time making this review! So here it is-

People say that the anime gives the senshi more personality - I disagree. The anime exaggerated their personalities and left out really important information related to their backgrounds, like how Usagi is the incarnation of the Moon Goddess Selene, or how Rei was once in love with a man she wished to marry...instead the anime turned our mature and spiritual Rei into a girl who went ga-ga over men like Mamoru, chasing him around, which is very unlike Rei of the manga. This affected peoples first impression on poor Rei and this is why I am writing this review to give uneducated authors like you the real inside story on Rei not just the snobby, hot tempered anime Rei as you know her!

Personality

The anime and dub portrays Rei negatively, making her look like a mean, hot-tempered, impatient and overly sarcastic woman. She's portrayed as show-off brat and makes quick decisions without thinking it through as Ami would. It also greatly exaggerates her "fights" with Usagi - fights which never existed in the manga.

In the manga, Rei's character is much more spiritual, calm, and she is not so easily angered, in fact, I cannot figure out WHY the animators had Usagi and Rei fighting at all - it hardly happened at ALL in the manga. She's not even that crazy about men in the manga - she distrusts them because of how her own father isn't around for her but she does have a past love interest in this present life.

Relations to Others

Rei was at first a more withdrawn sort, a loner. This is true in both anime and manga. Rei only began to open up and be friendly to others when she became a Sailor Senshi. With Usagi and the other soldiers, she was given a family and a friendship she didn't have before and this helped her to be more sociable. Manga Volume 4: Act 14 has students passing Rei in the hallway commenting on how Rei is a lot easier to talk to these days. Before that, the students called her spooky but an inspiration. They looked up to her because of her beauty and strange powers but did not feel they would be friends with the girl.

The reason most likely why she did not have any friends is given in Manga Volume 11 - a special birthday volume about Rei, in which she says: "I have no friends," she says. "And I don't want to make any. You can't have faith in people. I believed in dad. Mom always looked lonely... Mom was a slender person... But in dad's mind, there was nothing besides politics. Mom's weak body was dying alone. In the end, you can only depend on yourself, I think. So I don't want to marry, either." She said this to a man name Kaidou who it was later revealed that Rei, herself, wished to marry and was in love with.

Family

Rei's mother's body was weak, and after she passed away, Rei became a parishioner at the Hikawa Shrine with her grandfather on her mother's side - Manga Vol. 3: Act 14. Since her mother died, Rei didn't get along with her father and that is when she came to the shrine (Manga Vol 11: Casablanca’s)

Her father's a member of the political world - a member of the Liberal Democratic Party - a party that actually DOES exist in Japan.

Love Life

As beautiful as Rei is, and as many males as she attracts, there was only one man she ever fell in love with and had her heart broken by. It should be known though that men are ALWAYS paying attention to Rei in the manga, giving her flowers, buying her drinks - she's very popular with men but part of that popularity is not based solely on her beauty but on the fact that she doesn't chase men around, that she don’t even show any interest in men. She has made it clear, repeatedly, that she does not like boys. Only 2 men in the manga have captured Rei's romantic interests and that was Chief Kotono - the head of the Supernatural Phenomena group at the T*A Private Girl's School Academy and Kaidou - her father's assistant.

Rei's Dream

Rei has certain principles she lives by such as not looking back on the past, and not wasting money at the shrine, and not falling into silly pursuits such as finding a man with a lot of money to marry so that a woman may live out her life in comfort. Rei is a hardworking woman and dreams of becoming the Head Priestess at the Hikawa Shrine but we learn in Manga Volume 12: Act 36, when she recovers her memory of being Princess of Mars and recalls that she pledged her chastity to Princess Serenity ( Star-This is for all you betrayal fictions! It would never happen!) And that she has a greater purpose, a more important dream - she is the "Soldier of Flames", a sworn protector of the Princess Selenity, and that comes before all else in her life and is the goal and dream she was searching for and finally found in that manga act.

I hoped that some of you authors have learned a thing or two about Rei’s hurtful past and maybe just maybe would respect her more! If you are a big Rei fan this is not to insult any one I’m just sending this review out to almost any Rei fan so don’t be discouraged because you got this! If there is any questions feel free to contact Deaths.Bloody.Rose with the e-mail above where my e-mail would normally be, but this is her review so I’ll leave the questioning for her.

Okay, I'm going to be as nice as possible about your fic. This is not a flame. It's constructive criticism. You did a good job on Usa's personality. Not too OOC and not too ditzy. However, I thought you said this wasn't your run-in-the-mill betrayal fic? I understand that you have the freedom to do whatever you want, but the whole 'scouts betray Usa' thing is cliche-ish and overdone. I'm not a Mina fan/Serena hater. I like both Serena and Mina, am not too fond of Raye, but believe that all the senshi should be kept in character, as Naoko intended. Here's a few of my points on why the senshi would NEVER betray Serena:
Darien- Okay, I am neutral on the Darien/Serena pairing thing. In other words, I read and write both Darien/Serena and Serena/someotheranimeguy pairings, but WHY would he betray his girlfriend/best friend who has saved his life, and he has saved the life of a million times? If he DID cheat on her, he would NEVER cheat on her with one of the other senshi, especially Raye because Raye and the other senshi (especially the inners) are 100% loyal to her and DIED to save her.
Amy- Why in the heck would she betray the first person who befriended her and taught her how to have fun? She got picked on for being a bookworm before she met Sere, so she would remain loyal to HER AND ONLY HER if the others betrayed her for some crazy reason.
Raye- Yes, Raye was jealous of Sere's position as leader at the beginning of the first season, but she admitted that she'd never betray her. Yes, they fight a lot, but that's just tough love.
Lita- Why would someone who was shunned because she was considered a bully turn on the first person who befriended her? Lita stuck up for Serena when Amy was too shy to get past Raye (the only time Raye actually wanted to take over as leader) proving she was a true blue friend.
Mina- Why in the heck would she even consider betraying Serena? They're alike in so many ways.
The outers- Okay, you didn't have them betray her, which makes me happy, but Setsuna wouldn't betray her princess even if she was jealous because it would disturb the balance of time. Hotaru wouldn't because Serena saved her life. Rini wouldn't (and I never have seen her do it) because without Serena, she wouldn't exist. Finally, Amara and Michelle wouldn't because Serena proved herself to them when she fought them in Sailor Moon S. And the final point, ALL THE INNERS AND OUTERS DIED PROTECTING HER, SO WHY IN THE HECK WOULD THEY BETRAY HER RIGHT AFTER THEY PROTECTED HER? Now that I've gotten my point across, here's my suggestion:
Either re-write this fic and make it where the inners are under an enemy's control, who wants them to betray her, or delete the story and make a new one that doesn't have a betrayal theme.

please update, i have one question do you think you could also make one that is a gundam wing and sailormoon and dragonball z that goes along with the same storyline?
Oracle of the Stars 1/11/04 . chapter 3
I like it. You should continue.
anon 12/19/03 . chapter 1
It hasn't reached that point yet, so no one can be certain of that, and from what I've read so far, it doesn't look like it will end out that way.
Yep, you've got guts, good for you.
See? Wasn't it easier to just explain WHY you didn't like the fic instead of saying that it's crap? It helps the author and you don't have people getting on your case.
Jacqui10 12/19/03 . chapter 1
Um, ... and Nile person, why don't you take your personal feelings outside of this poor girl's review box and just email each other. You both look stupid, ignorant, and childish fighting back and forth like that, especially in a REVIEW BOX! Have some respect.
Mistress of the niles 12/19/03 . chapter 1
I did know it was a betrayal fic and I wasn't suprised. I was just suprised how stupid it was layed out. The fic is cliche. Usagi betrayed finds "true scouts" and sooner or later gets to Middle earth somehow to find her "true" Love. and I have to say I do not like the way it's written. I do not come acros Queen serenity is evil fics so often as the ones as betrays so please stop trying to make excuses for the author.
P.s I do not want your email address, I was just I had the guts to put mine up. I do not want yours.
anon 12/18/03 . chapter 1
1. So? My e-mail address is none of your business.
2. You KNEW before starting that this was gonna be a 'scouts betray Serena' fic as it was stated so in the summary, so don't act so surprised.
3. ...I'm not going there. Call me a coward if you want, I don't care.
4. Nope. I'm not. I'm going with what happened in the fic. Compared to the show, yes, this would NEVER happen, but this is the author's fic, so I'm basing it on what the author has written. Like that one fic where Queen Serenity killed the scouts because she's a jealous bitch. That wouldn't happen, but it was a nicely written fic, and that's what I'm judging the story on.
Mistress of the niles 12/18/03 . chapter 1
I at least had the guts to put my email address up unlike yourself who's to cowardly to do so.
Don't like it, don't read it.
How Am I suppose to judge a fic without reading it wise ass?
Now buzz off and don't start insulting people, unless you want them to send insults your way as well.
I'm not going anywhere and I'll welcome the insults with open arms, dumbass. I am not in America so I do not go to "elementary school"
This is a peice of a review you sent out before that ticked me off.
Yep. They're gonna get their asses kicked. (Pulls out popcorn)
Uh-huh. Your a "true" sailor senshi fan aren't you?
Jaye 12/18/03 . chapter 3
Too lazy to login. Can't say I agree with the whole brutalizing Rei portion of your last chapter. You made Pan snap for absolutely no reason. I wouldn't hit someone for something so minor as sarcasm. If I were Rei, I would've personally lit the bitch on fire. But that's just me. Anyway, I would like to be nice and give you a positive review but your story is nothing special. In fact, it's really not that good. Don't worry, you just need practice. The betrayal plotline, despite it's overwhelming popularity, is a very hard plotline to write. What most demented Usagi/Serene/Bunny fanatics do wrong is rushing into the story. Take.Your.Time. Chill and pay attention each aspect of the story. It's okay to have non-actiony moments. Take it slow, that's all.
anon 12/17/03 . chapter 1
1. So? You're verbally attacking someone you don't even know. At least I was being supportive.
2. This is not your fic, and it's not mine. This is Nieanna's and it's his/her decision. Don't like it, don't read it.
3. I never said you were a Minako fan. I said, and I quote "They're PROBABLY part of the Serena-bashing Mina fans." There are a lot of them, and considering your past reviews, it was an honest mistake.
4. Right...your spelling and grammer are little above that of elementary school, and you call ME stupid? Just look at your first review.
"CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP THIS FIC IS CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP THE SCOUTS WILL NVER BETRAY USAGI AND YOUR STUPID TO REALISE IT CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP. STOP TRYING TO REVIEW YOUR OWN FICS CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP"
Yes, you are so smart. Good for you. Now buzz off and don't start insulting people, unless you want them to send insults your way as well.
