Anna 2007-09-29 . chapter 1 Oh, I love this so much. Your characters are so spot-on, it's scary, (you used to write for Friends, didn't you? Just admit it, instead of making the rest of us feel inept in comparison) and your dialogue is hilarious. The storyline is perfection and you made me buy Chandler/Rachel, which, although I'm a fan, is incredibly hard to find on this site. Also, you managed to do it without making either Monica or Ross look like complete **, so congratulations on that front, too!
PS: I really wish you would write a J&R story some day. I know you're very busy and everything, but some day? *hopeful puppy dog looks* |
atruwriter 2007-05-31 . chapter 16I'm a new Randler fan, and I was searching ALL over for a fic that was well written, entertaining, an in character. They're few and far between, let me tell you. I was actually suggested this one on a site and I got into it immediately. I just LOVE this story. You've really captured Rachel and Chandler and made me believe that the writers of Friends got it ALL wrong. I love the conflict but the way they really stand together. It works! I hate it when authors automatically make them sacrifice each other for their friends. There are moments when people can be selfish and like in this story, the spark, the connection, it was too much to ignore and I love how they worked out. Chandler is still entirely funny and Rachel is still her understanding, sweet self. Ross is, well, Ross, who I've never much liked, honestly, but you've written him really well.
As for your writer's block, I totally understand that, I'm a chronic-blocked-writer, lol. The two storylines (pregnant or accident) are the most overused and badly written plots to ever grace any story, but I must admit I always love reading about it. Eventually, Rachel does get pregnant, though at that time it's Ross' (yuck) and I always wonder what it would've been like had it been Chandler's baby instead. But it is quite early for that to be happening. Then again, they do love each other. I guess you could lead up to it. I mean, have a few months go by of their *amazing* sexual connection and still have Ross seeing red and unable to completely reconnect while privately he begins to see just how close they really are. I like how strong they are, how together Rachel and Chandler are, so I hope you don't break them up for the sake of Ross, because that would really suck. I thought of accident early on, too. I thought, you know if Rachel were to get in an accident, Ross would see that Chandler genuinely loves her and he'd simply have to understand, or vice versa. But then, I always think it'd be more meaningful for the person who generally doesn't show true emotion to show their real feelings. In this case, that would be Chandler breaking down for fear of Rachel's well being and Ross would see that it wasn't "wrong" or a "mistake", but the right couple.
But then, you don't want to follow those lines, so I suppose outside of that box, your only real option is to have Ross see Chandler and Rachel stay together and bond closer and grow as a couple until he finally has to admit defeat in the face of how right they are together and try to make up with them as friends. You could have Emily come back, Ross could make up with her and things would be better. Or better than that, have Ross just give himself some real time. It always seems like Ross needs to be dating, like he cna't manage on his own, and maybe he needs that time.
I'd still love an epilogue with Randler babies though, lol.
After this incredibly long review, I simply have to tell you that if nobody else is reading, I certainly am. In fact, I'd read it all over again, it was THAT good. And believe me, it takes a lot to get me to re-read ANYTHING. So quite obviously, I love this story. I hope you haven't given up all hope, I'd really love to read more. I'd like to know how Joey feels about Monica having a date with Richard adn even have an insightful Ross moment where he evaluates what he thinks of Ross and Rachel as a couple so we know exactly what he's thinking outside of betrayal. Like does he have any specific reason he thinks they're wrong for each other or is he just upset that he can't have Rachel but his best friend can. Oh, and I love Phoebe! Had to add that, love all those moments where she "rescues" them by faking labour and calling Ross in to talk to her, etc.
Hope you update soon, it'd be a real shame not to read more of this.
Fantastic work, I definitely look forward to reading more in the future.
