Oh, wow. I have nothing to offer you but just huge, huge amounts of adoration for your characterization of Sands. This was just so dark and hot and your El:

El has shifted from the temperance (indifference?) of the first two nights to this barely-leashed viciousness with an ease which sends chills up Sands’ spine if he examines it too closely.

So much love for this.

It's beautifully written and very dark and hopeless. You can feel the absolute blackness of Sands' despair and his anguish, and you are afraid of what El is becoming.
"Because when he wakes up he goes blind, all over again. Oh jesus, oh jesus, every night when the dreams come and the dreams inevitably fade away he learns, and learns, and learns what it’s like to go blind all over again." - heartbreaking.

I'm horribly terribly behind on my reading of fanfic these days. There's just not enough time any more, to do the things I want to do and need to do, blah blah blah. Anyway...I got the e-mail that you had written a new story, and I just had to find the time to read it. Because I knew it would be wonderful.
And boy I wasn't wrong. This is so dark it gave me chills. But once again you prove your mastery of Sands' voice. I take my hat off to you, my dear. I'm so glad you continue to write in this fandom.
