but it was so sad, so sweet. miyako was very real, to me; the characterisation was really good. you're right, a subtle dai would not be dai at all. great fic. do some more, please!

That's rather sweet. I enjoyed the portrayal of Miyako most of all. I believe that's how she'd be if this had happened. Glad for her friends, but somewhat sad for herself. It's good to see her written properly. The Daisuke-characterization was also good. He really isn't all that subtle. That's Ken's department. :)
Though it is a bit odd that Miyako's first reaction is described as shrieking angrily, and then she just seems to be suddenly accepting it. Most of the story gives me the mental impression that she was just standing there in shock, not yelling.
One other thing...it was AMAZINGLY refreshing not to have the cliche Takari on the side.
