I think this is the piece that sealed this pairing for me. I've read other fics that describe their relationship as an old married couple's, which is so far from the truth it hurts. However, this piece? This piece hits the mark right in the bloody heart. Ouch. And hot damn, I swear you've the best characterization I've read so far. Love your Gojyo voice. I really just love this whole fic; the beginning was great, the sheer accuracy and poignancy just floored me - and Hakkai's last line breaks my goddamn heart. Bravo.

Although my favorite pairing in Saiyuki fandom remains 38/83, well-written 58s make me tread the borderline.

I don't know how you manage to capture the characters' voices so effectively, but please *please* continue.

Again, love your figurative language: "like I'm his curator or something." This type of fic is what a little fangirl like me waits for.

Poor Gojyo, poor Hakkai. You really have a talent for angst. So sad.

If there's one thing I love about the Saiyuki fandom, it's how it introduced me to writers who can really turn fanfiction into - dare I say? art. Literature. When a story means more than what appears to be written.
Forgive me for reading too much into something if it's not there, but I sense a conflict of affections between 5&8. Something involving mixed messages, perhaps? Am I on the right track?
That said, I love the way you put Gojyo's thoughts into words. Very -him-. And I loved how you portrayed Gojyo's devotion to Hakkai.

ek, sad, depressing, angsty, goodness . Loved it, it rocked, it was angsty, did I mention the angst? I like the angst...

This, too, is a poignant and heartbreaking read. Your language and style capture beautifully the tragedy of their failure to communicate and their persistent misinterpretation of each others' feelings.
Great job with the first-person, stream-of-consciousness pov-not easily done well. Excellent Gojyo insight into Sanzo's character, and very nice elaboration of what Gojyo went through to put Gonou back together to become Hakkai.
I am always amazed to find truly fine writing in fanfics... I hope you use your tremendous talent for "serious" (read "possibly publishable") writing as well.

Wow, that was powerful stuff. Very strong Gojyo voice, and lots of truth cast out in those little one-liners. ...And Hakkai's part...oof. Had to take a moment to recover from the somewhat shell-shocked state in which it left me. Nice. Not a happy fic, but very well written. The intro with the smile definitions was very cool, too. _

just 'cuz I'm a sucker for a happy ending don't mean I can't enjoy the ones that aren't. pretty damn nice, if oh-so-cruel, accomplished stream-of-consciousness that tells it sideways and sadly complete.
