Okay, so I'm a year late in reading and reviewing this fic, but it was so well-written that I thought I had to leave a review anyway. You did a really good job conveying the world-weariness and cynicism that I think would almost have to touch anyone in this job with all that they see everyday. I thought the imagery you used really created a full (if depressing picture). I hope to read more from you.

This is outstanding. It has substance and depth. It's one of the few decent fics I have had the pleasure of reading, and I will add to my favorites.

I'm shocked and appalled that more people haven't reviewed this. Of all the stories I've read on this site, I really mean it when I say this was among the most insightful. You have a serious gift as a writer, and I hope you keep it up. You have every right to be very proud of this story. Congradulations on creating a masterpiece. Your prose and your direction as an author are second to none.

Very intense. Definitely showed a different side of everybody's favorite Texan. Loved the insight; keep up the good work.

Hey, I saw that you only had one review for this, and because it wasn't a couple story, I decided to read it.
You have an excellent way with words in this fic. You bring back so many emotions from my adolescence and young adulthood. It's so strange to think of loving parents more than they love you--especially when everyone says things like "your kids are the most important things that will ever happen to you."
You've captured the loneliness, the emotional void that comes from being isolated and introverted in a town that's nothing but extroversion and bright lights and emptiness. I like that you didn't make it about romance or lust, sometimes a person's just a person independent of others. I don't know that I would have the stones to write a story like this one.
And I also like the fact that you chose Nick--of the five of our characters, I feel like Nick gets the most ** and is the least explored, so bravo to you. '
Can't wait to read more of your stuff.

Hands down the saddest story I read recently but so well-written. Thank you for writing this and hope to read more from you in the future!
