You say it's a new world; then how come a planar metropolis has sprung up so fast? (of course, that depends on your definition of a new world, I guess) Why hasn't she planned out where she's going to go? Is there really no way to control where you go using a world gate? If so, why is there such a long line (wouldn't the overwhelming majority of people be more cautious)?

I think this was a very good short story. It's interesting that you could either make this a first chapter or just leave it as it is. If you continue it, I'll review it more.
