This has torn my heart apart but I can't weep. Not yet. I think ti will take a while for my emotions to settleto teh pointthat I can. I saw and heard, smelled and felt what Pippin was experienceing wit heach word. I feel like I've run a race.

No one ever seems to think about the mental injuries that Pippin suffered because they aren't visible. I just want to gather Pip in my arms and hold him.

Beautifully written and as drained as I feel feel now afer just reding this, you must have been utterly exhausted by the time you finished writing this. Thank you.

Heartwrenching. Your stream-of-consciousness technique puts me right in Pippin's agonized run through the city. You succeed in making me mourn for Pippin's lost innocence all over again. Linking Denethor and his palantir to Pippin's experience, allowing him to understand a little what happened to this proud and noble man, was unexpected and moving.

It's quite the rarity for a story to leave me speechless. This story was remarkably well done. War and such is hard topic to write about and you accomplished it with such a powerful vision and a lot of thought. It's a wonderful example of what could have been going about in Pippin's mind. Such a brave lad!

Pearl, this is a true work of art. I think it's your best short story so far. The subject matter is heavy, but so was Pippin's burdens. I hope people will read this and realize what a brave and noble hobbit Pippin is, and I hope it puts to rest all thoughts of his being a childish little scatterbrain. Pippin was a very clever, brave fellow who had, like us all, his dark moments. This is one of the best Pippin fics ever. I'm proud to call myself a friend, even a sister to you.

I think this is one of the most amazing stories I've ever read, not to mention one of the most unique. Every detail is so important and vivid, it makes me feel like I'm experiencing it myself. You really show Pippin's panic and fear, even in the simple way of repeating "I have to find Gandalf." It's so horrifying, imagining seeing these things, especially the voices and the open eyes of the dead. You also show how he goes from one terrible event to another, registering it in his mind, yet going on out of necessity. This was just marvelous, I'm incredibly amazed, thank you for sharing this wonderful story!

I want to tell you what a lovely piece this is! I loved it from the first, and I feel every emotion Pippin expresses throught the story. A mark of a fantastic writer!
