By INANE, the spikey-haired chuunin examiner's name is Kotetsu. Close, though. Doesn't come up in search, though. Alright, back to fic... Izumo when from totally in-character to over-bearing mother/Hayate-sick/Anne-the-orphan sort. As soon as you went to his memories, it lost the touch. It still had a point, but it wasn't what you were leading up to in the first few paragraphs. The insomnia's not a bad thing, but the whole sob-past is a bit awkward. Love it, though.

Like I told you, I'm astounded to have finally found a fic for this pairing (and their names, for that matter, because they're never said in the anime, not even so that they were missubtitled as pronouns--ohyes i checked). I wanted them together as soon as I'd seen them--they were cute, they had this unspoken form of communication, they stoodtooclose! I love Naruto for its bit characters as much as for its main characters. Everyone has this...aura that comes off, even when they lack substantial back-story. This little fic-set is great...and of course I glee at you and love upon you muchly for your writing! The parallel style of this is particularly interesting, the way they each see the thoughts cross each others' eyes and neither acts on it except to avoid. And the back-story you've created for them is excellently crafted. Having not read the manga at all (I'm trying not to spoil myself for the anime...and then I go read fanfic...), I would have totally believed this was official if not for your disclaimer (all of which I read, btw ^^ because I do things like that). I definitely wouldn't be disappointed to see more of the pairing from you. Though, as usual, SR logs are accepted compensation/appeasement for my rabid fangirl soul... ::grin::

I love the way you have given these two so much character and complexity. How do you take such strange couples and make them work so well? Not that this is a weird pairing, but how did you even connect Shikamaru and Asuma? Anyway, you couples seem so natural eventhough I would never have pictured them together. I'm ashamed to admit that I have been thinking about your pairings at the oddest times, like in the middle of a quiz or during lunch or on my way to the gym. Your writing style is addictive! I'm hooked! Please feed me more!
