Interesting thoughts here but kind of redundant -- most of this was pretty well brought out in the series, I thought. But your writing style is interesting.

Sweet! I always thought that the Captain had never really experienced true love until he met Carolyn Muir - as if he was waiting all those years to find his soulmate. You did a great job explaining his motivations - well done!

I liked this. I agree with your theory as to why the Captain's still around. And it also fits with the book and the film - he's able to move on with Carolyn after she dies.
