The person who had helped him was a young man, possibly seventeen, dressed in a red cloak. Erk recognized him as one of the bandits who had chased them here.
He had bright blond hair and deep gold eyes, a handsome face with a sickly looking but tan complexion.
Ok, ignoring the "sickly looking" and the bandits bit, this somewhat sounds like Matthew. hehe sorry for bing hyper sensitive to this cos i AM a MatthewLeila centric. ok, maybe his hair's not bright blonde, but yeah, and deep gold's like amber to me. :)

I loved it. Honestly I did--this is going on my favorites list. I was trying to force my brother to read it too, but I failed miserably O.o Anywho, it was great. The title stuck to my head and I kept on repeating it over and over afterwards ^^;; I loved it still--the storyline, the character's personalities... Gale too, everything was great and clear. Not a grammatical nightmare if I must add--hard to find these days --;; *claps enthusiastically as possible* The only problems I could find were little spelling errors here and there--but that can be easily ignored, I guess ^^
I think I'm ready to go read your other Fire Emblem stories. They all sound interesting by the looks of it. I also noticed there was a sequel--I'll definitely be there ^^
