I really liked it. Loved your writing, so rich, multi-layered, with complex imagery (I wish we had stories like this when we studied text analysis at college); loved the structure, the way it makes a full circle, bringing Sands again to a church and a promise of peace. Loved the way you wrote Sands and his evolution. And especially a promise of hope and peace at the end because that's what the sound of the guitar meant for me (or maybe it's just my wishful thinking).

Beautiful, as always. I am continually in awe over how you use words. I got tears in my eyes when he stepped outside into the sun and nothing changed, and his last hope died.
