Aw! Wow is Frodo gallant. HE would die, just to save his home. That reminds me of Dally from The Outsiders. He died because he had nothing left either. I love this story.

Hi! Amazing fic! Along with the poor children of Africa, this is the perfect image of despair. It makes you want to cry out the unfairness of the situation. It is very powerful. Once again, amazing.

It was interesting to see Frodo's thoughts while in Mt. Doom, if only for awhile. His mind was so constantly under the seige of the Ring, he rarely would have had a moment to think. But in that moment, this is very much what was probably going through his mind. It was especially heartbreaking to see him thinking about leaving Sam to die alone.

Wonderful fanfic about Frodo's thoughts...my second time reading this and i must say that i am very impressed by your rendering of what Frodo might've thought. Very sad :*( very true interpretation about what he might've been thinking. The paragraphs about leaving Sam to die alone in Mt. Doom were the most profound and upsetting.
Great job, Ariel =)

No one, I think, writes angst quite the way you do, Ariel. Exquisitely precise prose, absolutely canonical characterizations, & a painfully accurate exploration of Frodo's state of mind near the end of the Quest. A powerful story that will linger in the memory for a long time.

What an amazing fic! Its very beautifully written. Your style is just right, elevated but still flowing and powerful. I love the way you weave in the quotes from the book at the end. The fact that it is so seamless is pretty good evidence of the quality of your writing.
Deeply moving. Frodo's state of mind in Mordor is only hinted at in the book but you've managed to work the few feleeting references into a brilliant fic. Describing the indescribable, and doing it rather well! write more soon plez!

*gasp* Oh! A new Ariel story! Hooray! ^_^
Oh, I loved it! I really did! That would have been so hard, to be in Frodo's position. Such responsibility lays on him, and yet his quest was doomed from the very beginning. The grace given him through his mercy to Gollum was what saved his life in the end; but still, the struggle he endured...and there was no way he would know what was going to happen. He just had to do the best he could, and if it meant throwing himself in the Fire along with the Ring, then so be it.
And the pain of considering what effect such an act would have upon his best friend, dearest Samwise...oh, that would have hurt deeply. But it's true that Frodo could not have made it without Sam. So cruel, it seems; but we know how it ends. :)
Love it! (Then again, it's Frodo, so that's no surprise... ;) Hehe.) Excellent job, Ariel.

Wow. Very well written, you portray Frodo’s agony with sensitivity. Your descriptions of Mordor where very good, really intense. You captre the nightmare of Frodo’s struggle with the Ring perfectly.

Wow. You add such insight to this passage. It's weird to think of all that must have been going through the characters head's that we never get to see. Sometimes I wish that LotR could just constantly changes point of views, but that would just be too confusing throughout that huge book. But, if it did change views like that, this is just what it would be like. 1+.

That's well done, and you've caught a lot of the flavor of the book as well. Poor Frodo.

Exquisitely done, like all your stories!! „ the Ring demanded the pure and innocent as well as the condemned and violated as sacrifice“ oh, this everlasting guilt and condemnation Frodo feels...I cannot but feel that if Tolkien had „designed“ his character a bit differently this sacrifice in the end would not have been necessary, but of course Tolkien wanted this ancient „king and sacrifice“ theme...*ramble*
Fodo does not only feel guilty for his actions, but also for what these again may cause...“and would leap, eager and selfish, to his ruin“...the ideal selfmade scapegoat, trying to put all sins of the world on his shoulders.
„Yes, Sam saw the truth now, and yet he, too, was resolved.“

Best thing I've read this evening. Vivid imagery and the conflict Frodo faces is done very very well.
*thumbs up*

This was exquisitely, profoundly sad. I totally buy into the idea that Frodo might have thought of suicide towards the end of his journey. His thoughts are so terrifyingly vivid and you've captured his inner anguish and his devotion to Sam with spot-on accuracy. Absolutely wonderful, thank you!

This is both beautiful and heartbreaking. This scene could have really happened.

Been trying to get in to rev this all day. ff.n sucks!! But this fic., my dear, is utterly, bloody gorgeous. This one floored me. Frodo's voice is so...Frodo and the awful choices just heart-wrenching. It's beautiful, it's canon, it's just amazingly lovely.
