Amazing. You are a master at work. This is the best nonslash Vetinari- hell probably the best Discworld fic around.

GREAT story. Nothing I can say to fault it without deliberatly trying to be cruel.

*sighs dreamily*

Y'know, the first time I read this, I was thirteen. I had found it terribly interesting, but didn't have the degree of mental maturity required to stomach it.

When I fourteen, I tried again. Still couldn't fully and truly appreciate it. The next year, I forgot about it.

Then, this year, when I was re-reading Jingo and The Fifth Elephant and Monstrous Regiment for the something-th time, I thought about Vetinari. Then Hanna. And then I decided I should try reading and appreciating it again. So I did, and now I'm going to hurry up and finish writing this thing so I can get on reading the next one.

Wonderful writing, as always.

I think this is the only Vetinari romance I have ever read and really loved. So incredibly in character. EVEN YOUR OC'S ARE IN CHARACTER. Whatever that means. I have been reduced to babbling (as usual) by the awe-fullness (in the literal sense) that this fic induces.

Er, thanks? XD

Can't possibly comment on everything I liked, so will just say that it is a wonderful story in general. Loved the coding at the end - so cool!

Now how did I miss this? Wish I'd read it during the summer when I'd have had time to read the thing the whole way through without being distracted at intervals. It's _great_.

If I listed everything that was good about this, I'd be here for quite a while, so just a few little points that I particularly enjoyed:

-Kinsey, Townsend, and Co. They were _priceless_. Just...so funny. In most cases, I don't particularly care for the insertion of original characters in major/recurring supporting roles, but these guys were _great_. Had me laughing out loud, they did. And you created wonderful personalities for them, as well. Anyway.

-The plot. Everything worked (i.e., was plausible), and it was creative.

-And characterization. I personally think you captured the personalities of the canonical characters wonderfully, and created engaging original ones.

But anyway. Loved the fic. I apologize for any incoherency contained herein; reviewing is not my forte.

I absolutely love this story. Can't wait for more... and I won't. Think there's at least one sequel left... :)

In a fit of boredom (blame summer), I'd decided to re-read 'Vetinari in Absentia' and realized I've never reviewed it :). So, allow me to say what a wonderful story this is. Vetinari's characterization is spot on (so rare for someone who's not Pterry ;)), and Hanna is a great new character. I hope you decide to continue this (and soon) ^_^. Er, basically, thanks for giving me a lovely, very funny story to read about one of my favorite fictional characters.

Brilliant. Hmm are you sure you're not Vetinaris long lost sister or something as your scheming is quite fiendish.
may I beg a favour most esteemed author? I'm writing a Discworld story that features one of my favourite characters, its a sequel to a Star Wars story I wrote some time ago called Two Lunatics and a Sith Lord and the characters Aisling O' Connell. She's now in Discworld or more correctly Unseen University. I was wondering if I may possibly borrow Hanna for a while? She wont be harmed or changed and of course anything that involves her will be run past you first. Please e-mail me if only to say no.
Thank you and good hunting

Yay! I finished it! ^_^ That was great - I feel all warm inside *hugs self* I wouldn't be surprised if more Hanna/Havvie doodles start appearing soon in my sketchbook. And I want to mention all the bits I found funny, but there are too many to list... ^_~

I'm sorry... a pointless review, but:

“And we dare not forget the time when you consumed three mixed drinks of unknown content and then slid down the stairway banister during the Watch Ball at the Ramkin house.

I can't get the straw hat out of my head... *finger itches toward pencil & paper*

I've finally got back on to reading this! I will continue soon, but my eyes are tired for the time being (I've been online too long), but I'll be back soon, maybe with some fan art. ^_~

Dear Mercator,
Wow - what an achievement! I'd only ever read two Discworld books before reading your stories, but after reading your series-s (back-to-back I might add), I'm utterly hooked. One can never be bored studying the teeming metropolis that is Ankh-Morpork...and its ruler, of course ;) You've really done an excellent job of taking the Patrician's character and creating a 'foil' for him (apart from good ol' Vimes) that makes for electrical reading. And everyone knows, the next most attractive character to a 'tall dark brooder' (to a woman) is a 'tall dark intellectual'...hee hee hee! (Sorry - I've just read your Greebo story and I've got the giggles.)
And as for the others - the guild machinations, bastardry (Would Downey really be that much of a prick? He is a 'toffy' Assassin, after all), and political manouvering are rip-roaring stuff. Very 'cloak-&-dagger' ;)
Please continue your series - there's still over a year left on the contract! Will Hanna finally 'get one over' Vetinari? ("It's a thousand-to-one chance", I know) Will Mrs Palm use Hanna's position to angle for anything? (If she hasn't already...) Oh the possibilities!
