Bambi_littledeer07 2004-02-16 . chapter 1 ok i have just a few things, first of all, how do we know Scar's real name was Taka? and how do we know Scar and Mufasa's parents names? They were never said in the movies and as far as i know, there are no sites telling us the names, i have watched the special edition of the lion king also, and they say nothin about Taka bein Scar's real name, nor Akase and Ahadi bein their parents. so where are you gettin this info? also, where can i find some info on the african language? the chants are in Zulu i believe? oh yeah...this was really good by the way, i was just curious about some things, but you have some real talent! i hope the rest is this good! :) ttfn!

Storyseeker 2004-02-16 . chapter 3Brilliant start to a story! I always enjoy reading tales of how Mufassa and Scar/Taka were when they were little. I'd like to read more about Mufassa's feelings about how he gets on with his brother, as it's clear that Mufassa is trying to get along with him, but Taka doesn't seem to share any of his interests like wrestling and such. I'd like to also read more about their relationships with their parents, I think Mufassa would have the same kind of one like Simba did or will have with him, but I'm not so sure about Taka.
One thing, despite what lots of other writers say, I realy don't think Scar and Mufassa are twins because A. Scar said in the movie that Mufassa was his big brother and B. The two of them look absolutely nothing alike. |
 claw 2004-02-15 . chapter 1 Nice Fic! really...I liked it! =)
keep it going! |
Epesi Cheetah 2004-02-14 . chapter 3I've just finished the third chapter, and I think this story has a lot of potential, but I've got a few nitpicks and suggestions about it. Someone may have already mentioned this before me by the time this is accepted, but here I go.
First of all, Akase is not a Disney character. I believe she was created by Brian Tiemann (http://w.lionking.org/text/Encyclopedia.txt) and made popular by Chronicles of the Pride Lands. Ahadi and Taka, however, do come from an official source, and the name for Ahadi's mate is Uru, according to the same source.
Second, Taka, does not mean "hate", or at least not in Swahili. It means a number of things, and gets a lot of flak for several of them; dirt, filth, rubbish, etcetera. But, as Snowy has pointed out, it also means a number of other things that are less insulting, and more fitting to the character, such as to wish or want, and as in "taka shari" to defy, or challenge. When one considers that one of "simba's" many meanings is "cruel person," "taka" doesn't seem quite as inappropriate as it sounds.
Erf, that was an earful, I'm sure. I hope I don't sound too much like a bossy know-it-all. Anyway, when I see something wrong I always gotta fix it. ;) Apart from those little nitpicks, the story is not bad at all, and looks like it will get very interesting in further chapters; I look forward to seeing how it progresses. |
snowysmt 2004-02-14 . chapter 1You're off to a good start. There are a couple things that are off, though:
One: Akase is not a Disney name, but was created by Brian Tiemann for his fanfiction "The Pride." It was later used in the well-known fanfic "The Chronicles of the Pride Lands" where it has since gained wider circulation and the common mistake of it being official Disney. Rather, the canon name for Ahadi's queen is Uru, which, like the names Ahadi and Taka, comes from the hard to find book set "The Lion King: Six New Adventures". The set appears on eBay every once in a while, though it's also available for viewing at http://w.nala.at, which you'll need to sign up at for a free account before gaining site access.
Two: "Taka" doesn't mean "hate" ("zira", coincidentally, does). Rather, "taka" in Swahili means "rubbish, garbage, dirt" (among a couple other nouns, including "calico cloth") as well as the verbs "to wish, to ask" and, I believe, "to want".
Other than that, though, this is looking good. |
