Wow. This is really, really good stuff. I like Murtogg; poor guy, I wouldn't want to be on Norrington's bad side either. I like what you've done with Norrington as well.

A great story. I love stories about Norrington and yours are some of the best. Albeit a little short. ;-)

Oh, bless you! There are not enough Norrington stories. And great opening! At first i thought that the fiance and Jack had died--and then it turns out that this is Norrington's POV of the attack on Port Royal, and the rest of the movie, yada, yada. gosh you have written him well. I love the how many 'H's" in aboninable, was it? And he's crying-poor Commodore-fce facts man, you got emotions. Feeling bad about the casualties. Self indugence be damned. Ah, the British repression--duty is before all. Horsefeathers. To carry out duty, first you need a person. A whole person, not a machine or a non-thinking cartoon, like Gillete. Then the duty has to be meaningful. Like If its your duty to pull up the anchor, and you neglect it, ship ain't going no where, and all the other pirates are mad, and they'll wake up the Captain, and for punishment, he'll have his way with you. (ditch the anchor, kiddo) Self indulgence good! He's almost at the level of duty for duty's sake. Folding and storing the deck chairs on the titanic.
I just cannot wait for Norry's POV of Jack. Does he take the "all pirates must hang because they are dangerous" or "hanging is the only way to get rid of this irritating little pesty guy who made me look bad when he saved Liz before I could" No respect for jack, because he only has one bullet. and no working compass. He does, however, covet Jack's hat.We know he is foofoo over Elizabeth. he thinks Will is a fool, impulsive kid (rash) and knows he cares for Liz, but doesn't see him as a rival. He was nice To will in the movie-sympathetic at least.
