Such a good story. It had al lthe qualities, made me laugh, cry (really did when those horrid men came a got Sands), smile, frown, feel, hear, everything. I just wish I heard what he said to El and what he would tell Marco. Oh well beggers can't be choosers :P

Great story! I love reading about that kind of Sands - reclusive and a little insane. Consuelo's treachery almost made me cry. Hell, she could at least turn him out but not lock him in an asylum!
I wish there would be a sequel...

I really enjoyed this, and I loved the ending. I would *love* to see even more resolution. Any chance you would write a sequel? With just a little more reconciliation? The guy who insisted Chicle Boy run away before the shooting started and who told him "Well don't ever, 'cause they're very bad" couldn't be completely beyond redemption!

Finally, finally, finally, somebody who agrees with my diagnosis of Sands! I keep reading these stories where they say, oh, he's a psycho, and I'm saying to myself, no, he's a SOCIOpath, there's a difference. The backstory was good, you nailed all those early childhood/adolescent warning signs--although I'm inclined to suspect the CIA would've caught that doing a background check. Still, you gave a lot more depth and believability to the characters than in a lot of the pieces I've read. Thanks, I enjoyed it very much.
