Um nono, I just said I try to listen to scholars. In fact I'm trying to study it myself... XP I'd say you're not the one listening. The fact is I'm TRYING. And I'm not going to take it at face value when you say you're a "scholar". They tend to help people, not try to bash heads in.

Not to sound rude, I don't believe you're more qualified than the people on elvish dot org or Ardalambion. The only sources better than those sites are likely Tolkien himself.

This is supposed to be a lighthearted story. Stop taking it so seriously.

I hope they come back soon, and I really like this story from what I've read. Garbage disposal stuffed with trash? Ouch! Ours is clogged, but I don't know why.

I'm glad you don't think this is just another mary sue fanfiction. The main point of this story is to go against that stereotype. I have absolutely no intention of turning this into some dropped into our world typical mary sue romance. Or having any such factors present. I partially mean to show how difficult daily life really is, and if something like this did happen, it'd be incredibly strange and hard to deal with. With a fun twist, because I have an insatiably bad sense of humor (otherwise it might be pointless too).
To help go against the usual fanfiction, I did another strange thing. Let me straighten something out that's easily missed. Rúmil is from Valinor, not Lórien. I am not using Haldir's brother or any relation to him. The two characters have no connection whatsoever, other than their name. My Rúmil is also Noldorin, not Silvan. He invented the Elven writing system way back before the Elves returned to Middle-Earth. He was a loremaster, not a warrior. I found his character in the Book of Lost Tales (1&2). This is one pair of the few dozen books I have read by Tolkien (and his son) or on him by other authors.

I found the Elvish on very accredited websites that are run by academically driven people like the or Ardalambion. These are widely known for their in depth detail and accuracy. In actuality, I should've done Quenya instead of Sindarin. I did not have access to a resource for that language at the time I started this story. It would make more sense for Rúmil to speak this, rather than Sindarin. Though it is hypothetically possible, I may go back and change it. For fun I did that Mary Sue Litmus test, and scored very very low. There is no way any of my characters fit the abhorrent standard.

Firstly Im glad thats not just another stupid idiotic Mary Sue fic where in which Mary Sue and her fwiends at sleepover/random night where parental gauradians are missing/dont exist/dont fit in the plot cause they would ruin teh hawt secks! that would go on..*gags...One small tip well two..Second, neither of you should be able to understand each other...Elves esspeically this one who happens to be Haldirs brother, speak Sindiarin depending the on age, I believe King Thengel in the first age banned Quenya, cause well it was outdated...What you and he are speaking is called Grevlish..an RP(role playing) langauge a couple fans made up, for they game called The Grey Company. It has nothing to do with Tolkien or anything...For an authenitic site go Navear Laliaths author page and use her site Real Evlish. Its got everything anyone could possibly want to know about elves..Three please run your character through a Mary Sue Litmus test, yes I know you want to avoid Sues..So all you have to do is put LOTR Mary Sue Litmus test into any search engine, yahoo! or msn, or google and itll give a bunch of links to different sites. Take the tests and see how you score...Fourthly for the love of the Valar and all that is holy, please for Erus sake dont turn poor Rumil into some teenage boy...k? Hes a several thousand year old elf, whos a warrior, one of the Galaddrim for Manwes sake, hes faster, stronger and much wiser than a 16 year old girl..Please keep him that way...good? good:-P
