This is one of the few canon pairings I like and this fanfic simply portrays it exactly as I see them.
Which makes me happy.


Trying to find something to criticise, I can only come up with this: Sometimes you have double spaces. Like here:
//...here and now. He's worried..//
Or here:
//Because she knows there's some things ain't working right, way inside him.//
It's a minor, minor thing, but fixing it would make it go from shining to sparkling.

Also, your Kaylee is so in-character it almost hurts.
Really, her voice is spot on.

This left me smiling. It was very sweet, while remaining true to both the characters and the tone of the show itself. Simon's reaction to learning what Early did and didn't do to Kaylee seemed especially like a moment that could have been taken straight from the next episode.

Hey, just wanted to say, I really liked this fic. I think it's one of the best Simon/Kaylee fics I've read. :) I hope I don't ramble but I like how you've captured Kaylee here & her voice! Love how, she likes to fix things, how she compares Simon to an engine (!).

Also, I really like how you wrote the 'Objects in Space' scene where Book disturbs them. It just seemed to capture the moment from Kaylee's POV. Simon's broke - I love that and he is. Also, loved the part "And they just sit there grinning at each other like two big fools, until Mal comes in and glowers at them and mutters something about lazy crew." That just made me laugh. Can't seem to find much wrong with it. So, thanks for the good read.

Aw. Fluffy Simon/Kaylee; I can never get enough. Your characterization of both is excellent, especially the "why" of Kaylee being so interested in Simon despite the fact he's constantly putting his foot in his mouth around her. :) I also loved: "... being Simon, he's somehow managing it with dignity." Hee. Perfect. Excellent job.

This is be-a-utiful! I've been wandering about (figuratively speaking) looking for something to slake my kaylee/simon need and voila! THis is a wonderful little piece and my biggest criticism is that it's too damn short! I'm holding my breath as I type this hoping that when I follow your author links it will lead me to more s/k goodness.
I love the voice you've given Kaylee as well as tying your own material to scenes from OIS.
The structure works exceedingly well and I love the way you've explained Kaylee's need to find out how things/people work.
Please please please can you continue writing for this pairing.

I haven't read much Firefly fic, but I couldn't help but read this. Your Kaylee was dead-on. And I'm exceedingly glad at how you depicted her emotional state post-Objects in Space. That she would need to reconcile what could have been. This was excellent.

That was a really wonderful story. It felt quite true to the characters and to their reactions post-Early.
