I loved the story even though the end of it made me cry a little bit.

Absolutely a brilliant story! So realistic, vivid, full of feeling. The plot was well woven up, whereas the little details from the violin playing to the cheese crumpets and warm tea brought such an idyllic atmosphere throughout the scenes.

Dr. Bell was also a great character; far beyond what original characters usually appear to be. She had a great sense of ironic humor, a realistic personality; very well I can imagine that she shifted a shard of her personality to Basil while he was in his imaginary world a young man. Her end was sad, but not comfortless. It was in a way a new beginning for Basil; in the eyes of this story the passing perhaps was one radical reason why Basil became what he became. The detective to hunt the evil Ratigan.

I'm rambling. But just somehow always like to analyze the writing I've read. Anyway, great work, I guess I need to check out some of your other stories too. D

it is interesting to see basil's choices...ever see the movie "Zero Effect"? it had a lot to say about people like sherlock, or basil, who give up everything to focus on their calling.

i think a sequel where he has to give up life, love, friends, to focus on pure logic would be cool.

This was brilliant. I've waited so long for a good Basil of Baker Street fic... sounds stupid, I know... but I absolutely loved the movie and couldn't seem to write one myself. WOW. You have such talent; not only does this use references from the Sherlock Holmes books (the whole watch episode) but it also covers a lot of Basil's habits, methods, and enemies. Truly an amazing piece of work... you must have worked hard on it. Thank you so much for the pleasure of reading it!

This is a beautiful story. Packed with references to the origonal Holmes stories and very touching. You captured Basil's character well but the unanswered questions cry out for a sequel.

Dude, that was fantastic! I loved how Basil and Joe had this friendship that was so indepth and just darn cool. You captured Basil's personlity very well too. And a good explaination on how Basil got to where he is as a detective. I think you should continue...write a sequel! not to be forceful, but PLEASE! :)
