dragonbaby93 2009-11-25 . chapter 101This story was great I really loved it. The time travel bit was awesome. I loved the different characters that Harry became friends with, and the fact that he didn't lose his old friends by doing so. I liked the vegemite reference, I love that stuff, haven't been able to get my hands on it for a few years though. There was a lot more I wanted to say at some point, but I can't think of any of it now, so I'll just leave off here.
Hope to read more from you in the future. |
fodirteg 2009-11-21 . chapter 101I think I have a new favorite story. I enjoyed the Taniwha trilogy, a lot, but The Horse is pure love.
Muttering/Whispering is the perfect concept to explore these characters' personalities and motivations and reactions.
I especially loved the parts from Simon's viewpoint (Severus Snape is so very much like a horse!) You do a brilliant job of explaining equine motivation and behavior. I also like your creative magickal concepts very much.
Thanks so much for taking the time to finish this story. I had the good fortune to wander my way here by accident. Although I'd read & enjoyed the Taniwha stories, I'm one of those folks who's been burned by unfinished fic, and always wait to see "completed" before I read, so hadn't tried The Horse. When I wandered my way here ( I think following favorites of favorites? ) it was a pleasant surprise to see this newly completed story from the author whose work I'd already enjoyed.
I rarely leave reviews, and I apologize that this is the first I've left for you. Please accept my gratitude for the generous sharing of your wonderful talent! |
jesusfreak100percent 2009-11-14 . chapter 101Great ending! For a while I was scared Harry and Snape mightn't ever talk... wel, I knew they would (you'd be extremely cruel if they hadn't) but it was one of those things where the heroine is about to be killed and you know they can't die because then the story ends, but at the same time you're scared they might.
Anyways, enough babbling from me. I'm going to check your profile now and see if you have more stories. This is one of the longest fanfic I've evr read. I mean, not only was it 101 chapters long (which I've never seen before) but each chapter was long too. And, best of all, they were all filled with amusing, entertaining exploits!
Please never stop writing! |
jesusfreak100percent 2009-11-10 . chapter 65Wow, although this is halfway through the story, I had to leave a review remarking on how amazing it is! In case you didn't know (I always find it annoying when people don't say what they've just read) I was reading the chapter from Simon's POV. It was hilarious. It also firmly convinced that he is actually NOT Snape in disguise (although I wouldn't mind being assured by you...?)
Anyways, this chapter made me laugh hilariously, and wonder what's up with Luna? Is she sad because she thinks Simon is leaving her? Well, I guess I'll find out. Oh, and is Snape actually dead O.O *whispers "please please let him be alive"*

 The.Red.Terror 2009-11-06 . chapter 65Aw. I love horses |
The.Red.Terror 2009-11-05 . chapter 55Sorry your going to be so sick of listening to my random middle of the night ramblings but i just had to say "down the local Death Eater pub" i absolutly love it |
The.Red.Terror 2009-11-05 . chapter 53I just checked how many chapters there were. Delighted to find so many more. It is currently just past 4 in the morning and i have another 2 hours of watch to do before i grab a couple of hours kip and go on to ride out 4 lots. Thank you so much for making staying awake all night so easy. This story is fantastic and i adore your writing. |
 The.Red.Terror 2009-11-05 . chapter 41Massive aw |
The.Red.Terror 2009-11-05 . chapter 37Can i just say the image of draco malfoy the farrier is probably the funniest image ever. All the farriers i know are horse and carts of men who wouldn't know good breeding(human not horse) if it slapped them in the face with a silver spoon. I thank you for such excellent humor |
The.Red.Terror 2009-11-03 . chapter 7I've just started reading this and it was the title which grabbed me as i'm crazy about horses and your note at the top of this chapter set me thinking. Generally horses will happily take a nap lying down only if their legs are tired, because sleeping that way tires them out more then standing up, as it's harder for their hearts to pump blood around their bodies when they lie down. Also they sleep for very short periods of time due to being extremely paranoid creatures and being used to their ancestors being hunted. At the moment i'm doing night watch in the equine hospital in the place i work and have the fun of staying up all night observing horses sleeping habits (which are actually very interesting i night add) scientifically its thought that a full grown horse will only sleep from 2 to 4 hours in every 24, but a foal will sleep up to 16(i like the foals way of doing things). Anyway just had to throw my tupence in there. I'm hugely enjoying the story i must add |
 chaucolai 2009-11-03 . chapter 88Re: Messages
heh, when I was about 7ish (at that time he belonged to a older friend) he gave me my first ever gallop up the paddock. Suffice to say, no other horse has ever given me that same buzz.
The story of Simon & his fan club reminds me of one of our old horses Fritz (unfortunatly he had to be put down earlier this year due to cushings).. he was up north in Kaiwaka staying with a friend, with no paddock mates but a bunch of cows. Poor Frizzle would stand there while all the cows crowded around, licking, chewing... |
 orpheneritus 2009-11-02 . chapter 101Dear Elsa2,
I finished your story last night at 3 am. I'm not a huge fan of horses (I sure learnt a lot by reading your story) but I am a huge fan of well written and interesting fiction. I think you really weaved an original build to the death of Voldemort, I loved the concept of Hufflepuff's Glasshouse, the sickle and the fig.
I was especially engaged during the scene when Harry and Draco steal Simon to go through the barrier, my sense of urgency was really real and I kept telling my laptop 'Go, go now'.
I think one of the things that really stayed with me after finishing is little Trudi and the faint glimmer of her nefarious designs on Draco. I thought 'Draco is harmlessly indulging her because he's fond of her, but he's heading for trouble.' Secretly I was wishing for an epilogue with Draco as the not quite yet Minister and his ambitious and slightly exasperating young wife. |
 chaucolai 2009-11-02 . chapter 78Re: Small World
Yes i'm too lazy to properly reply. By going to profile and all that. But, well, you'll get the message this way too!
What I find even more of a coincidence is looking out the window and seeing my own tall black Throughbred stallion.
Well, maybe he's not so tall.. Only what, 15.2hh? And maybe a more dark bay than a black. Definately Throughbred, though he lost his rights to be called a stallion a while ago..
But all the differences doesn't matter. He still runs like thunder..
And ps, just wanna say, loving the story. This has to be one of the most artful stories (despite the weird twists and turns of the plotline - at times it can be as convulted as the gravity in Hufflepuffs Glasshouse! XD) as most I've found are like "Ohmygod look at the pony no wait it's actually a PEGICORN with it's wings and horn hidden magically from anyone it doesn't trust! And now reference MY LITTLE PONY! and the Saddle Club ohmygodohmygod I love ponies!1!1" |
Blueberry Babe 2009-11-01 . chapter 101wow.. just wow.. thank you so much for all your efforts.. it was an amazing story.. i'm glad to see that they were able to repair their friendship in the end. Just a question on one of the spots. you mentioned that the Dark Lord had tricked Harry into believing that James was in danger in the Ministry.. I saw that you were trying to stick mostly to the cannon of the story was this a typo? It stood out to me as not quite fitting.. thought i would ask.. but loved the story. thanks again. |
 dancin' monk 2009-11-01 . chapter 101 *sniff*
Thank you so much for sharing this story with us. I absolutely adore it. Your way of describing the characters really makes them alive for me.
I love this end: Harry's understanding of Severus Simon Snape - all mixed together in one person, that Luna forgave him... It's just perfect, isn't it?
You have the ability to stop at the right point, many authors continue writing and writing and it all becomes one large soap opera, which is sad, because often the beginning was promising. You managed to avoid this and although your story is really long (Gosh! 101 long chapters, it's amazing!), it is round and harmonic in itself.
You really have a gift there.
Again thank you so much for this story!
Cheers
