Gryphaena 2007-11-24 . chapter 6 Ulmo loves someone? Are you going to write a story for Ulmo? I am guessing that Sirenis is Goldberry. Who on Valinor is Este? |
Gryphaena 2007-11-24 . chapter 5 Yavanna notices his chest! haha Oh no! Not Irmo! |
Gryphaena 2007-11-24 . chapter 4 Oh, so Aule doesn't burn trees for his fires. Hm, Yavanna doesn't trust Curume? Interesting. |
 Gryphaena 2007-11-24 . chapter 3 Poor Aule! |
 Gryphaena 2007-11-24 . chapter 2 Ulmo seems to know a lot. |
Gryphaena 2007-11-24 . chapter 1 Aule is smitten! When does he create the dwarves? |
Gryphaena 2007-07-09 . chapter 7 Hurrah for Aule! I do hope you will continue this. I cannot remember if Irmo marries anyone. I should go read The Silmarillion again. |
Cloaked Eagle 2005-11-28 . chapter 7It's interesting how rare 'fics set in the Almaren era are. Actually, it's not, because there's very little detail on it. It's really just an opportunity to play around with the Valar without any other influences like the Eldar, or even Melkor for the majority of the time.
And it's a good 'fic. Somewhat different to my own (unpublished as yet) envisioning of the time, but that's to be expected. It's funny without being forced humour, and actually has an underlying plot. And I, at least, know enough Quenya to make out River Woman.
One point, as an earlier reviewer said: There's a note of Tolkien's in the manuscript of the Fall of Gondolin (as found in the Book of Lost Tales Part Two) stating that the number of Balrogs needed reducing from the hordes that attacked the city. 'No more than 7', as he said. That's where the number given by your other reviewer comes from, although it doesn't seem to fit with the actual story too well - two of them die in Gondolin alone, and it's hard to believe all the Elven Lords who got Balrogged didn't kill more than four total. But it's the only statement we've got on the subject, so... yeah. (My preferred method of getting around this problem is to split them into Greater and Lesser Balrogs, according to their innate power as Maiar, but I realise that's a fandom creation)
Anyway, good story. I liked it. |
Seproth 2005-09-06 . chapter 7there were very few balrogs. Most people say there were only 7 of them though there could've been more *or less* but definatly no more then 10 and no less then 4. But being as they are. brutal and powerful 7 is more then enough.
though you seem to know your tolkien mythos very well. This is shaping up to be a very good fic. |
Jestana 2005-09-06 . chapter 7 Latajang anyone? *innocent look* Good chappie. I love how Aulë did his part, raising the land, and now fighting Sauron. I can't wait to see how it plays out. |
Seproth 2005-09-04 . chapter 6I must admit. I bought the silimarlion*ignore the misspelling it's 3:30 in the morning* for sauron *who is my favorite charcter in all of J.R.R. Tolkiens work* But I must admit it was really good despite him really only being promnient during the story or Berein and Luthien.
With that said I'm glad you gave Sauron such a big role in the fic. Crediting him with the destruction of one of the lamps *though the book said that Morgoth*even though he was melkor at the time I prefer morgoth* himself cast down both lamps* I also enjoyed how Morgoth swayed him to join his side.
But I must admit much like the book itself. It drew me in with the premise of Sauron being promnient and I actually enjoyed the rest of it more then I did sauron's own role. I really enjoy how well you make the Valar seem human. I always thought them above such emotions as anger and jealousy *well excluding Morgoth* so I must commend you for such an enjoyable fic. I only hope that you finish it. It's always a shame to see such a good fic fall.
I also like how you claim sauron is the greatest of all maiar*possibly misspelled but it's way to early to be thinking straight* while this is probally true. It's never been confirmed it's only assumed that he is. |
Jestana 2005-06-12 . chapter 6 Oh, very nice. You're not fixing things all neat and tidy right away. *grin* What's next? |
Sable 2005-06-08 . chapter 1 I agree with Ieliania Greenleaf. Aule should turn to Este for comfort. I would fit, Este being the healer of hurts. But in the end it should be Aule/Yavanna. |
Sable 2005-06-08 . chapter 5 Poor Aule! He's going to need some help after this. |
Ieliania Greenleaf 2005-06-08 . chapter 5 I still think this fic is wonderfull and that you should update sooner not every once in awhile cause I'm dying to read more. Anyway I still think that it will be interesting to see interaction between Aulë and Estë cause it seems that still Yavanna and Irmo love each other, don't get me wrong Aulë and Yavanna are my favorite couple of all the Valar but I think that it will give a real interesting twist if there was a little Aulë/Estë cause really if Yavanna hadn't married him, I'll have loved to see him with Estë.
Well I hope you take that to consideration cause it will make the fic more interesting, cause now that Yavanna said she'll marry Irmo, well Aulë will be sad and Estë as well so they might want to comfort each other and maybe love can come, well like I told you before is just a suggestion. |
