Interesting, its rather interesting. I'm not shure if this is going to be a one shot or if this is just the opening chapter. Either way it works well. I am hoping that it is only the opening chapter since you have a delicate touch and I would like to read more. The play of emotions is verry subtle and I personally perfer that, then to having writers shove manic/depressive characters up my nose all the time. Its more realistic this way and requires that the reader use their brain. Its a much more mature form of writing than I normally see. So don't loose heart, and keep writing. Good luck!
