I know it seems like a shallow opening comment and like I didn't even bother to read the piece, but I did read it. I like your writing style and how the first three paragraphs are divided between the views of the two characters. It's nice organization, clean cut. I like it. Also the confusion of Jiyu's status makes a clear picture of the blur of battle and the possibility of distroted interior monologue. "...Nothing but heart in all her movement..." says that her mind is elsewhere. Hmm... I think this could easily be followed up. Way to go.
