| Masaka1 2005-12-16 ch 1, anon. | abuseAll right for a first I really, I mean REALLY love your story and have read it before it was...deemed to mature from start to the sort of finish but you said you hit a plot point and well...um I have a story jolt that could introduce more characters, if you don't like it you can dump it right away but please read it once through first. “So what do we do now?” The question hung heavy over the four couples. The angels obviously needed their demon counterparts and the demons couldn’t even begin to dream of living without their angels. “Well you know…we could always run away,” Bakura said thoughtfully rubbing his chin. “Where would we run away to? I suppose you know a place that’s just going to accept demons and angels as couples?” Seto sneered. “Actually I do, jerk,” Bakura snorted. “We could go to the Middle Ground.” A moment of silence followed that then the demons began to laugh. “G-good one Bakura, f-for a second there I actually thought you had a plan,” Mai laughed, tears of mirth running down her cheeks. Yugi tugged on Yami’s shirt. Yami looked questioningly at his little love. “Yami…what’s Middle Ground?” Yugi asked curiously. “It’s an ancient myth, Yugi,” Yami smiled still trembling with laughter. “It was said that once a long time ago both our lands all coexisted in one place. Then for some reason the land broke apart. You angels went to Angel Haven and we went to our Demon Haven. Middle Ground was said to have stayed where it was, somewhere between the two.” “The Lower Elders said Middle Ground was a realm where angels and demons lived together, even mated. It’s a child’s story, only an idiot would believe it,” Seto finished. “The Lower Elders said that the bond was a myth too, but everyone here knows otherwise,” Bakura scowled deeply. Yami, Seto and Mai all went silent at that. “How would you get to Middle Ground, Kura?” Ryou asked his now very smug looking lover. “Actually its incredibly simple. You see we’re in the Meeting Hall, the only place where both angels and demons are allowed to mingle. Its neutral, neither the angels nor the demons have claim over it. However, no one ever stays here long. In fact no one even leaves the Hall itself.” “Of course not, where else would you go? Look out the windows are there is just a big gray and white nothing,” Jou snorted leaning comfortably back on Seto’s lap. “That is only part of what I believe is out there. According to the legend of Middle Ground, one can only find it if they throw themselves out into the neutral space. You have to WANT to get to Middle Ground, you have to think of nothing else, or else you’ll just fall into Demon Haven,” Bakura continued. There was a bright gleam in his eyes; the same gleam Yugi had seen when he’d first met Bakura. ‘Bakura really likes to know everything about the Havens,’ Yugi thought. ‘He likes to taunt Seto by knowing everything. Seto is the brains of the group but Bakura knows a fair amount of things Seto hasn’t even heard of,’ Yami answered through their mind-link. “You’re absolutely mental! You want us to just JUMP out the Meeting Hall’s windows?” Mai snapped. “We won’t hurt ourselves! If we fall far enough and don’t see Middle Ground we can just glide back up to the Meeting Hall! We have WINGS you know!” Bakura snarled back. “Yah wings for GLIDING, and even then only for short distances!” Mai yelled. Anzu pulled Mai back as the blonde surged forward at Bakura. Ryou did the same to Bakura. ‘Yami, we have to do something. We ARE the Leaders after all. We have to make them stop it or they’ll attract attention and-‘ ‘I know Yugi…hmm…’ “Bakura, where would we end up in Demon Haven if we jumped from these windows and didn’t hit Middle Ground?” Yami asked. “Huh? Oh uh, probably somewhere around the ash-fields, way out in the ash fields…in fact maybe in the mountains past the ash fields,” Bakura figured. “That’s far enough away from any city that no one would notice us,” Yami thought aloud. “… Okay, I think we should go through Bakura’s plan.” Bakura stared at Yami in shock for a moment then blew a raspberry at Mai. “See? Even YAMI agrees with me.” “Anzu let me go! I’m going to knock the smirk of that cocky male’s face even if I break my fist doing it!” Mai growled thrashing in her mate’s arms. Anzu’s eyes glazed slightly as she turned her focus inward to the bond she shared with Mai. Suddenly the she-demon stopped thrashing and whirled around pulling Anzu into a serious kiss. “I’ll hold you to that promise, my pretty little angel,” Mai said after they separated. The angels all blushed and looked away while the demons scoffed. “Well now that you’ve stopped your bi-“ Ryou jabbed Bakura hard in the ribs, “-bemoaning, I say we get this show on the road. If we want to try and get to Middle Ground without anyone following we should probably leave now.” “Wait!” Seto said as Bakura headed over to the nearest window. Bakura groaned and looked back impatiently. “What about Mokuba? I can’t just abandon my little brother,” Seto ground out painfully. “The little pipsqueak will be fine on his own for a while. If we find Middle Ground, we can always come back and get him, if we DON’T then we won’t have a kid to look after when we land in the ash fields now can we GO before we attract all the Elders!” Bakura snapped irritably. ~ Break to write what I need to before it leaves my head ~ The woman standing above him looked familiar to Yami. Not very familiar, but enough that Yami didn’t feel panicked. She was about Jounouchi’s height, maybe a little taller. Her skin looked as satiny as any angel’s but was slightly darker, like hot chocolate powder. Her hair was straight and raven black reaching down to her waist, singular strands sticking every this way and that. Her eyes though were the most tantalizing feature, a bright emerald, like a glassy green sea. A name came spilling over Yami’s lips before he could help himself. “Ishizu.” “You know my mate?” the woman asked. Yami groaned and sat up completely. His head was throbbing dreadfully. Black ringed his vision and there was a worrisome roaring in his ears. “W-where am I? What happened? Why does my head hurt so much?” the demon leader asked softly. The woman blushed and scratched her head. “Uh well, ya see um…I sorta…fell on you.” “What?” Yami blinked in confusion. “I thought I sensed something in the hills. I came up here to investigate and I sort of …tripped rolled down a dozen yards or so and landed on your head,” the woman explained poking her index fingers together sheepishly. “Oh.” The woman grinned sheepishly and then looked seriously at him. “How do you know my Ishizu?” “I think she used to live in the Demon Haven. I…sent her to sabotage the Meeting Hall once with some other demons and when she failed I threatened to kill her. I never saw her again after that,” Yami said. He hadn’t thought about that demon woman in such a long time. He’d been about twelve at the time and as cocky as anything. He had claimed to have bedded Ishizu once or twice. The usually passive woman had nearly broken his arm when she’d heard that. “YOU’RE Yami! Wow…Ishizu told me about you…she said you were a very gorgeous guy but a real prick,” the woman gapped. Yami flushed. ‘Please, please let Yugi have not heard that,’ he thought privately. Something inside him jolted painfully. He looked around in panic noticing he was all alone on a green hill. “Where’s Yugi?! And Seto, Bakura, Mai, Jounouchi, Ryou and Anzu!” Yami wheezed. “Hmm? What’s a Yugi?” “H-he’s an angel…he looks a little like me…o-only smaller with wide amethyst eyes and a star on his forehead like a diamond,” Yami described quickly. “Amethyst eyes and a…star…you mean…he’s an Angel-leader? Is he related to good father Sugoroku?” “Sugoroku? He was Yugi’s grandfather. He died a while ago,” Yami informed. A painful look raced through those emerald eyes and the woman’s shoulders drooped. “Oh…I-I had hoped I would get to talk to the good father one last time…before he died. He would have liked to know about Middle Ground.” Almost more so then the thought of Yugi gone this new information sent a tremendous shock racing all throughout Yami’s body making his wings come out. “Middle Ground!” “Yes…hey you have ruby-strands in your wings! That will be a prize in the collection uh… that is if you choose to stay. But, I’m getting ahead of myself. I have been talking to you for a while and I haven’t even introduced myself, I’m dreadfully sorry,” the woman blushed. Yami noticed she looked a lot younger then he remembered Ishizu being. “My name is Isis. It is a pleasure to meet a demon leader such as yourself. “Uh…same. Are you…a sister of Ishizu’s?” Yami asked. “No I’m her angel-mate,” Isis chuckled. “But I will discuss that more once we find your friends. Come take my hand, we’ll go find your friends now.” Yami nodded gratefully and took hold of the palm offered him. Isis pulled herself and Yami to their feet. Surprisingly Yami didn’t feel so much as nauseous. He noticed a pale glimmer racing through his arms and body. The glimmer was coming from Isis. “Are …are you a healer?” Yami ogled. “Come on, Kanika can carry us across these hills fast as anything,” Isis said turning and running up the hill. Yami noticed, as her hair flared away from her back, there were two large, pink, half-circle scars running over Isis’s shoulder blades. ‘What happened to her? Did someone…take off her wings?’ Yami thought. He followed over Isis over the crest of the hill to where he got the shock of his life. “GAH! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?” Yami screamed falling backward onto his butt. A beast with four powerful legs ending in black stones for feet stood on the hill’s top. It had a long face with a wide-nose and eyes as dark as night. It had short hairs covering its entire body and there was a brush stuck at its backend. “It’s called a horse. You won’t find them in the Havens,” Isis chuckled patting the thing on the nose. “Kandika is her name. It means ‘black.’ She’s fairly big for a mare but I assure you she’s not aggressive and she can ride like the very wind itself.” Yami noticed the ‘horse’s’ back was long enough for two people to sit astride it. “W-we’re going to ride this thing? Like a smoke cloud?” Yami shuddered. “Clouds? What are you…OH! Yes that’s right you can summon and ride clouds in the Havens!” Isis gasped in remembrance. “My, my the years have certainly not been kind on my memory. Ah to answer your question, yes, we are going to ride her the same way you ride a cloud. Except on a horse you’ll want to grip the sides with your thighs. I didn’t think to put a saddle on her so it maybe even more difficult for you.” Yami bolstered up his bravery and marched up to the beast. It stared knowingly at him but just shook her head. Isis grabbed Yami suddenly around the waist and heaved him up onto the horse’s back. She then heaved herself up, nearly slipping off the other side of the beast in the process. “Whoops!” Isis giggled. Yami gripped the woman’s waist to keep her on. He was NOT sitting on this ‘horse’ by himself! Isis corrected herself and reached around Yami, grasping handfuls of hair that grew long and lush on the horse’s head. “Kandika, ride,” she commanded. In a terrifying jolt the horse threw its front-legs up in the air then stomped down and took off. “Kandika is a horse I enchanted to find lost travelers. She should locate your friends easily,” Isis explained. Yami didn’t reply, too terrified by the animal’s lurching movements to do more the squeeze the horse’s bulking body with his thighs as Isis had suggested. ~ Malik gapped enviously at Yugi’s wings. “Y-you still have your wings! Cool! Can you fly with them? How high have you flown with them? What was it like?” the tanned boy asked in a breathless gush. “O-of course I still have my wings,” Yugi blushed backing up as step. “Wow. That’s so incredible,” Malik’s expression dropped sadly, “here we cut off everyone’s wings the moment they reach maturity. I never got to try flying.” “I’m sorry,” Yugi said softly. Malik blinked and laughed, scratching the back of his head sheepishly. “Oh yah, well it isn’t that bad. If I had kept my wings it would’ve been even harder for my demon lover-man to accept me. He hated me at first when he found out I was an angel. The only reason he didn’t kill me right when I found him was because he didn’t think it’d be right to kill a handicap. HAH! A handicap angel! Can you believe him? But I suppose it would be difficult to get around in your world without wings huh? That’s what sis tells me anyway.” Yugi didn’t know if he should comment or not. Malik seemed quite capable of carrying on a conversation all on his own. “You…have a demon mate as well?” Yugi asked hesitantly. “Hmm? Oh ya, Marik. He was the smaller guy at the entrance. The other one was my adopted brother Rashid. Unlike you guys Marik landed by himself in Middle Ground. He was beat to heck and as wily as anything. We hauled him back to the village and patched him up but the moment he regain consciousness he sprang up from the bed and brandished his sword all around like he was trying to cut the air itself apart. He sliced me really good across the back before he lost enough blood that he passed out again. It took us a LONG time to settle him down and a long while after that to get him to accept any angel. Apparently his family was killed off in one of the wars between the Havens. He barley escaped with his life. I think there is more to it then that but every time I ask Marik gets this look in his eyes like he’s going to go into a rage so I let it be.” “And you’re his mate!” Yugi eeped. Again Malik just laughed. “Yep, surprising as this may sound Marik can be a real softy. See I was taken to him from the get-go, kind of hard not to be. For one thing he was handsome and build like a god! For another thing he was the only decent scrap around this place that wasn’t mated. So I started hanging around him all the time. He’d snap at me and threaten to stick me with his sword in my sleep but never once struck me. Since he didn’t I just kept hanging around him. Heh, guess I’m as thickskulled as Isis. Anyway this one time Marik was really fired up and he got so mad at me he socked me but good right in the face. Well until then I just figured Marik was a little rough around the edges and needed some loving to fix him. But when he hit me…well I figured he hated me. So I took Kandika and rode out in the hills. I figured I’d just go off and kill myself or something. Well this humongous storm blew in and I was stranded. Lightening was striking the ground close by and Kandika panicked. She reared up and stumbled. We both went rolling and she pinned me from the waist down. It broke my bones from the hips downward. The rain was pouring and pouring and I couldn’t move. Then here comes Marik riding Ishizu’s horse Runihura –which, let me tell you, is a death-sentence in itself—looking all ruffled and panicked. He found me lying on the ground despite the fact that you could barely see in front of your nose. He picked me up all gentle and hurried me back to town. I was bed-ridden for about six month and for all that time Marik would watch over me. Now, he didn’t DIRECTLY watch over me, he sort of hid in the corner of the room so I was never sure he was there until he went to leave, but he was there everyday nonetheless. I was still depressed though. I was sure he’d just rescued me out of pity and nothing else. So once I was up and walking again I avoided him like he was death itself. If he was in the room you can bet your pretty angel feathers I was going to be clear on the other side of the village. Well one day when I was bathing in the hot springs Marik comes charging in looking positively murderous. I screamed my little heart out and dived at the door, but as my ** luck would have it was locked. Marik pinned me up again the wall and I almost passed out. ‘Why for the sake of the Elders do you keep avoiding me, Malik!’ he yelled. ‘I-I’m scared of you!’ I quivered back. ‘Scared? Why would you be scared of me? I haven’t so much as said two words to you since you ran out in that storm,’ Marik asked. He looked really gorgeous when he was confused. Of course, to me, he looked gorgeous anytime but he looked especially beautiful when he was confused. Well I was naked and dripped and pinned against a wall thinking how beautiful he looked and I start to get…you know excited. Marik, of course, noticed and looked at me with this dark-look in his eyes. ‘You…want me?’ he crooned softly. I freaked and shoved him back yelling ‘NO WAY FREAK!’ I then took the only cover there was and dived back into the hot spring. Marik smirked and threw off his own clothes and dived in after me. He caught me and held me to his chest. Being that close to him I could feel the he was just as excited as I was. ‘M-Marik, you…your,’ I gapped like the little virgin idiot I was. ‘Malik, I want to mate with you. I want to mate with you so much that I may just break your hips like Kandika did only this time you’ll beg me to,’ Marik crooned. ‘W-WHAT! NO! LET GO OF ME! I DON’T WANT THIS! I’M NOT GOING TO MATE WITH A JERK WHO HATES MY GUTS!!’ Marik’s face sort of went white with shock and that smirk on his face just ran clean off. ‘Y-you think…why would you think that I hate you?’ ‘You hit me! You hit me and I knew that you weren’t ever going to think of me as anything but a stupid, murdering handicapped angel! You’re horny now and you don’t care what I am as long as you can ** me but once you’re satisfied you’ll leave!’ I screamed at him. I hadn’t realized it but I had started to cry. Marik leaned forward and licked the tears off my cheeks. ‘I never hated you, Malik. I hated that you were an angel, true, but I never hated YOU.’ ‘B-But you hit me!’ I had gapped. I really didn’t understand I was SO sure Marik just hated me, he’d told me he did everyday, usually after I proclaimed my everlasting love for him. ‘I shouldn’t have. It was wrong of me. But I was so confused because I thought all angels were evil and yet I was falling in love with you more and more everyday so I just lashed out. Malik, you have no idea how terrible I felt when I found you out in the hills. I wanted to hold you and apologize and kiss you better but…I was so scared you wouldn’t forgive me and then when you got better you avoided me. I hated that most of all. I missed your constant murmurs of love, of devotion…I missed that so much Malik.’ Well that stunned me to the core. I had expected anything but that! And well…seeing this permanent hickey on my neck you can guess what happened after that,” Malik finished with a beaming grin. Yugi listened with captivated awe to each word. He couldn’t believe that Malik had gotten such a rough-and-tumble romance. ‘Then again, being a prisoner that fell in love with my captor was quite a twist too,’ Yugi chuckled to himself. “I’m glad you found someone to love like that,” Yugi smiled sweetly. “Thanks…you and that Yami guy are mates too huh? You have to tell me how THAT happened,” Malik asked leaning forward to balance on his elbows. Yugi laughed and nodded. “Sure, let’s go to those hot-springs you were telling me about and I can tell you everything over a nice hot soak.” “You got it Yu-chan!” Malik said giving a thumbs-up. ~ ~ “Ishizu and I are trying to pool our magicks so I can…so we can,” Isis began. The usually easy-talking angel trailed off turning a lovely shade of ruby. Ishizu chuckled and pulled Isis into her arms. “We want to try and have a child, one that is part angel and part demon,” Ishizu explained. “A child!” Bakura gasped. “How could you do that?” Seto asked avidly. “There is a ritual which will combine my essence and Isis’s to create a child. I will then use my magic to implant that child into Isis’s womb and let nature go from there,” Ishizu smiled warmly. Isis was blushing like mad now mumbling nonsense into Ishizu’s dress front. “C-could…could a male be given a child to carry?” Yugi all but whispered. “…Hmm…well yes I suppose; though the birthing process would be terrible because the ‘mother’ would have to be cut open,” Ishizu answered with a clinic impassiveness to her tone and expression. “But we wouldn’t try it until we had a child. You see Ishizu and I have tried to carry a half-breed child before and …well despite the fact I’m perfectly capable…I miscarried each time,” Isis said softly. Her childish light was not present. Only a very deep tone of grief that only an almost-parent could have was present in her usually bubbly and warm voice. “You see, Isis and I…we were very powerful magic-wielders in the Havens but without our wings we cannot muster up the power it takes to properly bind our essences together,” Ishizu explained, running her fingers tenderly through her partner’s hair. “We need more people with more power to perfect the process.” “You need winged magic-wielders,” Yami realized. “Yes, that’s why we haven’t pressed you about removing your wings as is our custom,” Isis said. She clasped her hands together pleadingly. “We will understand if you do not wish to…if you won’t help us. This is after all Ishizu’s and my dream but-“ “I’ll help!” Yugi offered openly. “If Yugi does so will I,” Yami smiled. “If my best bud wants to help you then you better believe I will!” Jou whooped. “I will also offer my services,” Seto nodded. Ryou, Bakura, Mai and Anzu also agreed. “Oh! Oh! Th-thank you so very much! You have no idea how much this means to us!” Isis sobbed joyously. “You could have very well just ended the struggles between the Havens! No one will be able to say angels and demons are incompatible after this!” Ishizu grinned |
