This is turning out to be quite a ride my dear. I enjoy AU fic and I like Kathy, she is very sweet and understanding. I like the fact that Jack is going to have a lunch date with Lennie.

I liked the start of your storyarc. Please continue, I'd like to see where this goes.

My apologies - I was not trying to denigrate those who do succeed at beating their addiction. This is the beginning of a two-three story arc that will complete things. In no way did I mean that this single incident would change him permanently. There are some episodes that have run where Jack was trying to quit,like when Adam says "If I didn't know better I'd offer you a drink." Also - we never see personal lives explained on the show, so backstories are up to each individual fanfic author. Kathy was embarassed at having her secret found out and she lashed out. The one person who could understand crossing the line and getting a chance to explain is Jack. Anyway, just my thoughts. Thank you for your review.

I've got 16 years recovery from alcoholism, and I find this story a little simplistic. Jack's drinking problems have shown up in his behavior over the years on the show, and his relationship to alcohol is far more complex than this story depicts. His reactions ring false. Also, Kathy sounds like a brat. No professional woman would behave that way in an office setting as formal as the DA's office on L&O, and get away with it for long. Abbie demonstrated her temper and butted heads with Jack, but never NEVER on personal matters. Overall the characters need more depth, and I think the story would benefit if the author developed a more thorough knowledge about the complexities of drinking problems.
