Ooh - I don't know if it is a good thing or a bad thing that I can envision Snape doing exactly that!
I always picture him as sorta-decent under it all, but reading some of JKR's interviews, it makes me wonder if he won't turn out the bad guy in the end, anyways...
I mean, in virtually all the books (sans number four), the kids suspect/blame Snape. Wouldnt it be just the thing if in the end they see him as trustworthy, and that comes back to bite them?
Anyways, great tone to this story, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

This certainly did bring a smile out of me. Well done. Snape wasbeing oh so very much a Slytherin. After all I am pretty sure he is a great suporter of the 'reveng is a dish best served cold'.

And only he would be so arrogant as to go on and celebrate his death while the others mourned him. He is a double agent that apparently has fooled either Dumbledore or Voldemort to trust him.

I'd say it is rather spot on Severus Snape's character and thoughts. I suppose that he would dosomething like this even if he had tried to warn Black.
